£400K in the bank.... on 16:37 - Aug 9 with 5711 views | Educated_Pork | So does this mean they've paid another £1m dividend? If so, some people might owe Dai Conn an apology. Also shouldn't it be more than 200k given last year's shareholding adjustment? Anyway back off out in Copenhagen. Looks like I need to find one of our newly flush directors.

Picking up the Trust newsletter, I thought we were being targeted by Russian oil money. Thought it was a picture of Vladimir Putin when I first saw the letter, not Mr Sumbler.

Hmm. Anyway just got back from Copenhagen (awesome place!) so forgive my tardiness regarding my favourite subject but have to say I'm a little disappointed both by the award of the second dividend, the continued wriggling regarding the initial announcement (this isn't politics) and the Trust's position on this especially in regard of future dividend payments which, given your words in the newsletter regarding future support for future payments, I can only assume will be a regular occurrence. In my eyes at least, we're currently in the midst of a major change in the relationship between club, board and fans and I'm concerned also the Trust. The club have always been presented as effectively a not for profit organization but now we have at least two board members earning 6 figure salaries and now we have £2m taken out of the club, with the likelihood of more in the future. This concerns me. No doubt I'll be in the minority on this, especially in peacetime and depending on your view on what being a Swans fan is about, but when this was found out about in the bars of Copenhagen last night there was considerable unease among many. Not least because this wasn't communicated by the club and was rather snuck under the radar when many were away. The latter point might be coincidence though...I rather hope so at least.

I'm with you brother. I'm trying to make sure it's just not envy on my part, and I don't think it is. There has to be a risk reward relationship and all the Directors deserve that return, but they have now been more than adequately rewarded for the financial risk they took imho. The money should now all be used for acquisitions, ground improvements, academy investments or making sure that, as a self proclaimed fans based club, we have the lowest ST price in the premiership. Failing this, it would feel to me as if the trust have gone native. Sorry if this offends anyone, but emotion is an emotional thing.

Spot on. As it happens I don't believe many people would begrudge the board the occasional dividend, but the secretive way they've gone about it (and the repeated denials from our erstwhile Trust representative don't help) can potentially do a lot of damage to what was a stellar reputation and relationship with their own supporters. Agree with you totally about the season ticket prices. The board have had their Premier League dividend. Time the fans had one too. [Post edited 10 Aug 2013 17:53]

£400K in the bank.... on 18:22 - Aug 10 with 3298 views | Uxbridge | Just read rest of newsletter and other papers in the envelope. Not sure if been mentioned but moving away from current free membership to paid memberships if you want to vote or stand for the Trust. Also sad to see the removal of the Family Membership which was available back in the day. Thinking about it, this whole dividend issue is really something that would ideally be presented to the membership before a position was formalised IMO. Oh and agree on the "fans dividend" principle. Good idea that.

Pure coincidence that newsletters arrived this week they were issued last week to the company that sends them my gut feel was they would arrive next week as for future dividends none have been voted on and we (trust) will only vote for if we feel it is right. My bigger fear is that no dividends may encourage some to want to 'cash in' and I don't like that idea From our persoective if the majority vote ij favour then we'll tuck ours away as we all know where it will end up

Glad to hear no other dividends have been agreed and that no schedule of dividend payments have been agreed. Anyway I hope some thought is given to canvassing the opinions of the Trust membership before this issue is raised again. There is a danger that making such decisions unilaterally will have a negative impact IMO.

As a starter it will be discussed at the agm and was one of the reasons we insisted on it being in the news letter

I think it was said last time that there isn't enough time to canvass the members opinions on things like this, so the trust board make the decision on our behalf. And if anyone doesn't like that then they should stand for election to the trust board. Or something along those lines. My opinion is the trust are pretty toothless now that we are where we are, apart from arranging bowling nights and the like.

I dont think it was said like that or certainly not something I would say For the toothless comment as a 21% shareholder in the club we are as toithless as anyone else with the same share? Can we influence everything? Nope because its a democracy but the the voice is important, perversley more so as the club gets more successful as that increases chances of the vultures circulating Edit: vultures is the wrong phrase

It was pretty much what i wrote Phil, give or take. Answer it again if you like, why weren't the members asked about it before the trust voted in favour of the dividend? It was also said something like, it doesn't matter if you had voted against it as the other shareholders would out-vote you anyway, r.e the 21%

£400K in the bank.... on 19:29 - Aug 10 with 3096 views | NOTRAC | Whatever else happens this money should not be left in the trust. It will destroy the principle of what it is all about. There are many things that this money could be used for . One idea is to purchase tickets to provide under privileged kids with the chance to see the Swans,or even to sponsor one child per home game as a mascot. A lot of good could be done with this money,or it could cause a lot of destructive problems.
