True but i only realised this 30 years later when I caught the video of the gig on YouTube. It WAS my first gig and didn't think it could get any better.

Good shout on Sad Cafe. Onlyy really known around Manchester at that time (Black Rose /Fanx Ta-ra era). RIP PY

Screaming Warthog at the Alfred Hall (this was the nickname of a church hall in Newbold) about 1970. The band covered Zappa numbers and the like. Amazing guitarist only 15 but was an apprentice butcher and chopped some of his fingers off. And that was the end of the band.

Or you can have Johnny Winter at the Free Trade Hall

The worm of time turns not for the cuckoo of circumstance.

I also went to that. My first gig some years earlier, was Genesis at the Hardrock in Belle Vue, closely followed by Argent at the Free Trade.

Status Quo at Live Aid At Wembley.
They were first on stage and sent a few shivers down my spine.
Fantastic day and very worthwhile.

It was like 20 odd gigs under one roof withe Queen stealing the show.

Limp bizkit at the MEN around 12 years ago. Everytime a drum was hit, a firework went off. Good times.
My last visit to the MEN was to see Kiss a few years back. Equally as good/cheesy

Poll: Dale player. Do you use it?

Just found this, the blurb underneath video says they met in '77 and the song hit the charts in '79 so I reckon it was probably '78 when I saw them so later than I thought.
Great festivals they were. Any idea when they stopped?
