With hindsight how many would currently take HH over Zamora?

Heidar is one of those players where you don't realise what he brings to the table until he's gone.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing. In the summer when 95% of people thought we were in for a great season, nobody could quite see where Helguson was going to fit in and given his age the decision to move him on so he could regular first team football - that was certainly the conclusion I came to in his farewell/tribute piece

But then we thought all that last summer. Thanks for your efforts Heidar, but we're moving beyond you now. As it turned out our best spell came when we actually went back to him and his goalscoring record last season per match was absolutely superb - better than fatty Holt who everybody raved about.

Our failing since promotion, under Warnock and Hughes, has been a determination to go away from the Championship players too quickly. The problem we've found is that the 'name' players we bring in see QPR as a small club, bit mickey mouse, bit beneath them. They're here because we pay big, no other reason, and of course while all footballers are essentially only anywhere because they got offered a nice contract there is something to be said for that extra connection to QPR players like Helguson, Mackie, Derry, Hill, Faurlin, Taarabt feel. They worked hard and went through a lot to get us here, they're perhaps grateful to the club for giving them a chance to play in the Premier League, they all still feel like QPR is a big club whereas the others did nothing to get us here, know they'd have got a deal somewhere else if it hadn't been QPR, and would have been in the Premier League regardless.

In hindsight Heidar Helguson should have been kept as cover for Zamora, because they're our only two hold up and lay players. As it turns out, he'd probably be starting by now, just as he was last season, and doing us proud, just as he was last season.

No, I disagree. Before the Djib joined, Heidar was our most effective striker last season by far. He could hold the ball up, bring others into play, WIN headers and score goals.
It's not rose-tinted specs, Heidar just suited the way we played superbly. He showed that a true pro doesn't just count on pace (which he has none of!) and could conceivably keep playing for another couple of years.

If only we'd got rid of Betty Bothroyd instead...

At least he's consistent.

HH is miles better than Zamora is now from what I've seen, but neither really work as lone strikers they need someone alongside them. Cisse is much better suited to the lone striker role and needs a good run in the team to get properly match sharp.
