Under 14,000 on a nice sunny day.
What would you do to get bums on seats ?

For next Saturday I would offer in the region of 3000-4000 seats at £10 adults , £5 senior, student and u18. £3 u12.
Put a window of Monday - Thursday.

Make money in the club shop, and catering outlets.

What would others do?

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

No you’re definitely not on your own. Gave up my season ticket due to the owners . If they could have sold the tea lady….sorry…person…I’ve no doubt they would. They were arrogant in dealing with players and contracts and it appeared to me I was being treated as a cash cow for their incompetence.
At the moment the new owners appear to be of the same ilk so in that respect I’ll not be rushing back. I have Sky and watch the team whenever they’re on plus I go to a few home games. And that’s the way it’s going to stay for me.

The fans are owners but are very timid. They did not have the cahones to be major players. They have the mentality of the women's institute..

Marketing.
That’s a word our owners do not understand.
Huge problem.

The amount of publicity that they give to Reviva, I would hope it’s worth a few million.
But doubt it very much. Perhaps they get very good mates rates.

I just hope that those paying for advertising on the big screen above the ticket office generate more income than potential match day tickets. Basic marketing, advertise a product you are trying to sell, particularly at the point of sale.

40 plus years a ST holder, 70 odd away grounds following the Swans & I gave it all up mainly due to Martins boring football.

I found it difficult to watch a full game under Williams.

Although not thinking of renewing ST I will go to more games now it’s entertaining ( I have seen some poor stuff over those 40 plus years).

It seems I’m not alone.

This is the crux of it.

We have been, even when doing reasonably well under Cooper, deathly boring to watch for nearly six seasons. Add the generally dull style of play to a team losing games, particularly at home as we have done this season, and what do people expect? Growing crowds?

It's got little to do with marketing. You could make tickets a fiver each and a lot of the floating support wouldn't bother to make the effort to get down to games. People want to be entertained, to feel like they've got their time and money's worth. That's the most important thing that the club needs to do.

It's not unique to Swansea either. Nor even football. It's definitely a South Wales sporting public thing.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

It's a concern Ken , it sure is
It's apathy really
I have criticised our fan base including myself
It might be genetic
We are not as passionate as we think
Pompey, Bradford are crazy loyal in a way we can only dream of
We should be seeing increased crowds after the appalling turgid shite has ended

It's going to take some inspired marketing

If it's a lack of passion it has come about after too many years of boring rubbish, too much nonsense from our owners and people either not being able to afford it OR simply finding something else to do.

I have streamed a few games this season, been to 5 away games...or is it 6? On a few occassions sunder Williams the game was so dire I chose to walk the dogs instead of carrying on watching.

I don't know about Portsmoth's pricing but Bradford massively reduced prices to get the fans in, I don't know what their prices are now mind.

To get the fans back we just need to entertain, it's something we hadn't done for most of the time since Russell Martin joined. The last 3 games have been a breath of fresh air. The first thing I did when Williams was sacked was buy tickets for Boro and Burnley and I have also got new season tickets for myself and my son. Better marketing may help but ultimately what happens on the pitch is the biggest factor and that is ruled by what happens in the boardroom.

Incentives to attend the next 5 home matches is all very well and good to maybe attract some new fans, but if they're not entertained by what they see on the pitch then they are unlikely to return.

If we want to see friends of 18k+ regularly again we need to play successful and entertaining football. Fans need to feel the club is trying to achieve something, and that will take some investment in a new manager (if Sheehan doesn't want the gig full time) and playing personally for next season.

Not a quick fix I'm afraid.

Hope I could be proved wrong with figures , but are the younsgters really interested in active sports events at a local level and grass roots or Man City , Liverpool and Man Utd as their go to preference for entertainment on their laptop or phone .

Ospreys have chucked the towel in , a bad sign for Swansea sport in general .

I think that there is still a decent amount of organised kids football going on. There is usually a big turn out at pitches for Saturday kids games.
But, you hardly ever see kids having their own games in parks and on pitches now. When I was a kid we would be out with a ball for hours most days. We would walk miles to meet up and play. That never seems to happen anymore.
The seniors games have almost gone as well. Most teams used to have a 2nd and 3rd team. Most struggle to put out 1 side now

I won't be renewing next year, not because of the football but because what was a 6 hour round trip every Saturday has now been made into a near on 8/9 hour round trip due to constant roadworks from Bristol onwards. The journey just is'nt worth it anymore for me and my daughter.

I think sky sports + is doing untold damage to the EFL yes the clubs are getting more money, but it's turning fans into armchair fans.

A cold wet Tuesday night and you can watch the game from the comfort of your armchair

Seems pretty clear to me. Streaming and the red button are the biggest culprits and the hardest to deal with.

Plenty of people would go through thick and thin for 30/40/50 years and now pick and choose. We’ve had our share of terrible owners/managers/players and played some awful football in that time.

Fully accept that these are very valid reasons for some people, but not in the numbers we are seeing. Same with cost of living, more people living outside of Swansea, family commitments etc.

Part of me also thinks we were spoiled by the Martinez/Rodgers/Laudrup teams and to an extent the individual flair from Trundle. Think we have much higher expectations than we used to.

Edit - not knocking anyone, this applies to me too. I’ve been to two away games this season. Used to go a lot more often before streaming was an option.

Cojones. It’s a Spanish word meaning balls.

The trust were never supposed to be major financial players. They came about to save our club at its lowest ebb. Everyday people who were prepared to stick their heads above the parapet.

They were ill prepared to deal with the massive, unexpected windfall that came with our rapid progression from their inception to the Premier League. It’s unrealistic to compare them to seasoned businessmen or football investors.

I have been a season ticket holder since the early seventies from the dark days to the glory days of recent years and back. Its in my blood. I rarely miss home or away games mainly because of the camaraderie. The football played in the last5 few years has been boring to be honest the only bonus when RM was manager was the record against CCFC. There was hope under MD for a month or so and then LW gave us the we will be a fortress ay home blah blah speech all the while playing boring possession behind the half way line football. No wonder the fan base has voted to stay away. The last 2 home games have been a breath of fresh air the fans that turned up have made some noise and the players seem to be enjoying their football again. Word of mouth and social media will get fans back again if the entertainment is there. Remember the old days when we were asked to bring a friend?
