It's been mentioned on here a few times about how much we dislike it and the kind of feeling it generates.

When you get told not to do something by the law, don't do it. Simple really, surely?

It might be different if we are talking a law that stops your civil liberties, but if in your head you're free to go around pointing at any set of people telling them that they are rent boys, when most of them aren't, you are odd.

I mean the song would work with if you replaced "Rent Boys" with "Arseholes", so why not go with that? It conveys an insult without doing what you've been expressly asked not to do - who cares what flavour insult you throw Chelsea's way as long as you insult them, right? So predictable that the day the club asked the fans not to do it, the usual suspects piped up with it - of course they did.

Clearly the same people who decide that sitting in your allocated seat is wrong so that they can pile in at the back when the game has already started, overcrowding the back rows instead of just getting there on time in the right place...

Yes, I am part of the "your in my seat" brigade...

Can we go out yet?

Cmon guys just imagine how deeply offensive it must it be for rent boys to be (constantly) compared to Ch*ls** supporters.

"you're".

All 'Steve's' comments about changing himself etc are just soundbites. He'll probably be more careful in future but I doubt he'll turn into a saint as a result of this.

Not sure this helps.

Wonder if 'Steve' has earned himself a late Oscar nomination?

If the term 'rent boy' was replaced with 'homosexual male prostitute' would that then be acceptable?

The Tottenham fan walked away for nearly 10 years, but was possibly ok with his own fanbase using the Y word?
Would that now be an offence to shout that at Spurs fans who use it about themselves?

As an earlier poster said,if you change it to w@nkers instead it would be ok to sing it,and I’d gladly sing it myself too.

I sympathise with them and am going through the same thing with all you nasty football fans shouting things.

Every week I go to games and hear people call the referre a w*nker I think 'Am I safe here?' If people around me knew that I was a wnker, would they be attacking me or be verbally abusive? Would they stop singing it about the referee and would they start singing it about me?"

We had that joy as usual last week someone in our seat so having to hunt around for another one, some of our group had to stand on the stairs we eventually found one after coping a load of abuse off a few fans for daring to get to our seat.

I dread going to away games when it's a sell out, is always the same

Same; I was with my 87 year old uncle and asked people to move so he could sit in his seat. It was as if I'd asked them to give me a kidney.

It's always noisiest at the shallow end

We sat in our seats in D22&23,which was next to row S Seats 1&2,which was behind row J so anyone who managed to find their right seat was lucky.

Counterpoint: this fella (assuming you believe it, which is a different story) has been re-educated, and is now approaching relationships with his community in a more positive way. If this way of handling things has genuinely changed not just someone's behaviour but their actual beliefs and approach to life in a more positive way...isn't that actually a really good thing and shows this way of handling things worked?

'Rent boy' was one of the things I used to get [called].

Masterful clarification there.

Thanking the authorities for their “reeducation” undertaken on the threat of prosecution is kiss-the-lash grotesque, particularly as what’s legal and illegal seems to stem from bureaucratic fiat - see the current Sandie Peggie/NHS Fife case. Ban people from private property if you don’t like their behaviour, but prosecution? How long have we been at war with Eastasia?
