More attacks on historic paintings on 11:58 - Sep 28 with 494 views | AnotherJohn | Interesting that the sentences have been more impactful of late. There were a whole series of cases involving Extinction Rebellion and Just Stop Oil where defendants got off scot free when they had clearly caused damage and disruption. I still remember the young women who were filmed attacking an HSBC plate glass window with a hammer and cold chisel, and denied doing anything wrong. The jury let them off. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-56843329 It could be that the recent cases involving jail time show that judges are tougher than juries. [Post edited 29 Sep 12:00]

Or maybe they are reacting to the claims that there is a two tier justice system, after sentences given to rioters and people that write nasty things on line. | |
