That’s not the way I saw it at the ground, for me we played 4 3 3 , with Charles on right Manning.Central and Alcatraz left, but games all about opinions and you obvious saw it differently

Manning is left-footed, he covered the left side trying to cover for Alcarez and leaving the left hand side exposed because he had to cover too much ground in a position he was unfamiliar with. Rotten on Manning, if you ask me, and asking him to do way too much that virtually nobody could do. That's a Martin experiment that was frankly, mindless - there was not a chance in Hell that it was going to work but Oxford worked it out easily. And Martin went back to a sensible formation in the second half. [Post edited 1 Aug 11:32]

Manning is a school boy footballer.
He just goes where the ball is, he continually did it last season.
He plays the ball & just follows it leaving space from where he's just come from.
Opposition very soon exploit this.
