Is Matt O'Riley really that good? 17:27 - Jul 30 with 1052 viewsPatfromPoole

He has only played twice for Denmark.

He didn't make their Euro 2024 squad.

But 3 Brentford midfielders did.......

If we are shelling out as much as is being mooted, it is quite the show of faith in our manager.

Shea Charles is refusing to be part of the player swap!

I would rather see us spend that on a keeper!!

From what I’ve seen, he’s like a younger version of Stuart Armstrong, who turned out a great signing for us.

We have a good track record signing players from Celtic, so hopefully if he signs he will prove to be as good

Pat, you have to be at least as good as Vestergaard to play regularly for Denmark. Maybe O'Riley isn't up to that standard. He is well behind Højbjerg (81 caps) in the central midfield pecking order, like Ross Stewart is well behind Che Adams in the pecking order for Scotland.

I've never seen O'Riley play, so he may be absolutely brilliant, for all I know. Let's hope he is if he's going to be our record signing.

The figure I've heard we're willing to pay is £35 million

That's an awful lot of money for us to spend, especially considering that we could still do with another striker and a GK.

Plus losing Charles means we would then have to find another defensive midfielder willing to be second string to Downes. This could prove difficult.

Im sure O'Riley has plenty good qualities but when you think about the impact bringing him in will have on the rest of the squad I'm not sure this is the best move for us

I think we all agree that a new goalkeeper has to be our No.1 priority in this transfer window (well, at least I do).

You won't find too many Northern Ireland internationals playing for the green side of Glasgow....

If this is true, Rodgers is even worse in judging a player than I had previously thought……
