Because there aren't a great amounts of flights from there very rarely is there a delay. Oh and I tried the executive lounge, £34 for 3 hours before flight, Penderyn whisky, Brecon Gin and a range of food and snacks. Excellent value for money

If it was not there there would be no flight as jets cannot land on grassy fields. Perhaps you would prefer to travel further to Bristol but that option does not exist? Most people prefere to save time and money and have no prejudice against Welsh institutions..

I'm flying out from Cardiff on Monday morning due to the pressure put on me by the 'proper Welshies' on this site, who deem those who fly from Bristol traitors. Nowt to do with the fact there is a flight going to the destination I want to go which flies out early in the morning. Doing my bit for all of your taxes | | | | Login to get fewer ads

That’s god to know, £34 is decent because airports can be extortionate.

I have paid £31 each for the lounge at Bristol next month, got a discount through holiday extras. And no I don't feel dirty flying from Bristol, Jet2 was so much cheaper than Tui for exactly the same holiday and better flight times.

I have admittedly a few prejudices but an intnate object such as an airport ain't one of them.If Rhoose or Bristol didn't suit my needs then I'd have to travel further afield, which I have ,Gatwick for example. Never knew jets couldn't land on grassy fields 🤔

That’s a tidy deal too. I prefer flying from Cardiff and that’s my first stop, but if they haven’t got what I want (which is often the case) then it’s Bristol and the tunnels. I’m loathed to fly short haul from further afield. Jet 2 are excellent, I used them last year for the first time and I was really impressed, first class from start to finish and much better than Ryanair and Easy Jet.

My only prejudice is about the amount of money Welsh tax payers have to throw at it to prop it up, specially when most Welsh people don't use it. Ask North Walians how important they feel Rhoose is to their travel plans. There again ask South Walians if they'd prefer the airport to be supported or to have the M4 upgraded. Seems odd to me that the Senedd wont improve the M4 because of environmental impact yet they want the airport to boom despite passenger carrying jetliners being the most polluting form of transport in Wales.

I thought the one in Cardiff was good value for money, you can use it 3 hours before flight and a good variety of food and drink. I was flying at 2 30pm so worked out well, would definitely use it again

Flew to Majorca on 30/08 and back on 13/09. Excellent both ways. Flights may have been cheaper from Bristol or elsewhere but I didn't check. The ease of use (parked up in an hour) is worth the extra cost, to me at least.

How much was it? I recently flew from Bristol and had a 3 hour wait, but it soon passed. Driving back from Bristol at 2 am was a nightmare. M4 shut, diverted around Newport, then Granddaughter threw up all over the car. I had to stop and clean it up and ended up gagging myself. What an end to a holiday.

And I use Cardiff for the same reasons but it doesn't mean I'm happy with the Senedd propping up the place to over 250 million and counting.

FYI, my comment in the Bristol airport thread. How much would that 250 million be reduced by if things were to change. ********************************* FYI. 'At £13, APD is the highest aviation tax in Europe and represents a large part of the air fare, particularly since low cost airlines account for most capacity at Cardiff. As a consequence, the airport has failed to prosper and has lost out to other, cheaper airports in competition for new capacity.' 'Here are some of the concerns Bristol Airport has raised: Job and investment losses Bristol Airport has warned that devolution of APD powers to Wales could negatively impact jobs and investment in the south-west of England. Passenger diversion Bristol Airport has claimed that if APD is scrapped in Wales, more than a million passengers a year could fly from Cardiff Airport instead. The UK Government has resisted calls to reduce APD in Wales, saying that it would negatively impact Bristol Airport.' Part of the wording of the Lib dems election manifesto. 'Devolving Air Passenger Duty to put Wales on a fair playing field with Scotland and Northern Ireland and put Cardiff Airport on a fair playing field with regional airports in England' Logically, if a million more people flew from Cardiff then any subsidy could be massively reduced. You have to wonder why the success of the only real International Airport in Wales is being deliberately held back by the Westminster Government.

You don't have to wonder why at all, the tories are.....insert th truth...and so maybe labour will change that, we'll see. The fact still is though that when the airport is at such a disadvantage and is losing a lot of money, unless Westminster levels the playing field then Welsh tax payers are going to continue getting shafted. There's more important things in Wales that need the money more. And there's still the issue about not sortingoads out but propping ip the most polluting form of transport in Wales.
