Richard Langley is due to be there, which is a bit odd considered he only played in the first league and cup game before we sold him to Cardiff. He did play a huge part in the play-off push the year before though.

Have always maintained that if he stayed we'd have won the league, he was head and shoulders the best player in the league at that point in his career. To be fair we may even have won the Cardiff final if he wasn't suspended.

I know we signed Kevin McLeod permanently and Tony Thorpe off the back of his sale, but I think Langley would have had the bigger impact across the year still.

We'd already replaced him with Rowlands and Ainsworth so was probably a good move for everyone

Yeah Langley being suspended meant Gallen had to move to the right side with Pacquette and Thomson up front.

Only about a minute from taking it to penalties wasn't it?

Although had we won, I don't think any Rs fan would have got out of Cardiff alive.

Furlong & Pacquette were up front with Thomson coming on as a sub.

Thomson started against Oldham, but lost his starting place for the final.

Ah yes, forgot that.

We actually had more decent chances than I remember! The "square it Tommy" one not even included here (although I don't think it was that clear cut).

Didn't realise Danny was at fault for their goal, also a poor clearance by CC.

I remember those two celebrating when Earnshaw went off.

Them and Plymouth were good rivalries back in the day.

What a top night l! Ollie on top form, Kev and Gaz with the best stories of the night 😁 Langley asking Ollie why he sold him as he said he didnt want to leave.
Brilliant and to be honest quite emotional at times.

So does Furs! No wonder he was still playing at nearly 40, looks in terrific shape.

Hope some of the footage will be released eventually?

Yeah was a really good night, so nice to get the old gang back together.

Shook GA's hand and wished him all the best and to keep going!

Had a nice chat with Mel Johnson (was chief scout back then) interesting he's back at the club helping Andy Belk.

Steve Palmer so unassuming but as club captain he really played a crucial part in turning us around after the 2001 relegation.

Big Dan lovely as ever. To be honest everyone was really approachable and friendly.

Bit of a sore head this morning

Also some really heartfelt comments from Clarke Carlisle about how much he appreciated the support from the club and fans with his alcoholism.

Mel Johnson has been back a few years now, think he came back with Penrice 5/6 years ago

Glad it went well.

A lot of hard work must have gone into it.

It was a great night Brian, ALL the players were very approachable and mingled freely in the bar afterwards.
We left at about 12.30 and some of the players were still going strong led by Birch and Gallen, Rowlands could hardly stand up he was so drunk!

Maybe GA should have taken the current squad along and shown them what a real team looks like!
