Can’t wait for Clive’s words on his performance! Been a while since we saw a Ref get escorted off by loads of stewards !

Poll: Now it’s slightly clearer cut who do you want as manager ?

A good excuse. Nothing to do with the referee as we conceded 3 goals. Simple fact is we were cr@p.

If you are blaming the referee then u have run out of excuses.

Fully accept how bad we were but that should not hide the pathetic performance from the referee. It is my option to support this team and sit through today but I have no option with the referee so it is about time the level of ineptitude is recognised and something is done. We have had an apology over the Swansea goal but what good does that do us and today a cast iron copper bottomed penalty was not given because the referee turned his back on the play. A basic error.

Even if the ref somehow missed it, what about that dismal excuse of a linesman? Pathetic, product-diminishing performance that led directly to Armstrong's booking and, on another day, possibly worse.

Poll: What should the club do now (assuming no imminent change of owners)?

Correct, no clue of any rules, back to non league please.

It's being so happy that keeps me going.

The Ref was not the reason we lost, but my God he was awful. Gave no cards in the first half, then a flurry in the second, including a terrible one for Smyth when it was hardly a foul. The 'penalty' decision is one of the worst I have ever seen and had he given it and a red card, it could have changed the outcome, We'll get a break one day.

That said we were wide open at the back and were too easy too open up and score against.

I don’t think anyone’s blamed the ref. But he truly awful. The Armstrong foul was one of the worst decisions I’ve seen.

Saw the penalty shout with Armstrong.
It’s a disgrace of a decision and a sending off.
He should have had 3 Cov players in the book in the first half for cynical fouls. Nothing.
Sadly doesn’t take away from our performance. It wasn’t very good.

Nobody is blaming the referee for our loss. The discussion regarding his performance has nothing to do with the teams performance. Are you really suggesting we cannot discuss the referee simply because we lost.

Also was the first goal offside - it looked like it at the time but I haven’t seen a replay since.

I do wonder after no bookings in the first half when probably both sides could have had a couple, he goes in at half time and the 4th Official says " you better look at the low lights of your first half performance"!

Then as soon as the second half starts, he tries to atone for his 1st half performance with a rapid confetti of cards!

Call me a cynic but some were plain ludicrous - especially the Smyth one.

Once again a ref ruins the spectacle of the game with an inept performance aided and abetted by a very poor lino!

We weren't very good second half but they didn't help matters!

It was a foul, no doubt. But it was just (like a few cm's) outside of the box, I've just seen a slow mo replay of it. Not making excuses for that dickhead ref mind, he had no bloody idea anyway.

Whilst we have a lot of problems with the team etc that 1st goal is offside and we should have had a penalty plus at least 4 should have been booked first half. Did we lose due to the ref, not really but he didn't help and that first goal was vital today

Sorry, but there is too much clutching at straws. Forget the referee, if u lose 3-1 at home, and won 1 in what, a year, then start looking closer to home.

This squads failure is down to one person. Ainsworth.

Stop blaming everyone else.

no one's blaming anyone else. Sorry I'm the eighth person to point this out to you.
We can be cr@p and fully deserve to lose AND the ref can be poor at the same time.

Bare bones.

Pretty sure Smyth was booked for dissent not the foul. When he committed it (definite foul, definitely not a bookable one) and the ref blew up, he turned around and reacted right in the refs face. Possibly harsh but definitely stupid.

Good post and correct Smith fouled their player then screamed in the refs face and got his card no issues there .
Cook also got booked for rushing at the ref who basically had the card ready.
Armstrong is just a hot head and everybody knew he was getting a card .
The game was decided when Kakay comitted that stupid foul and the chain reaction of crap followed as we know eventually to QPR.
Offside ,crazy bounces and horrible refs are killing us this season but we self destruct most of the time ourself .
We are undecplined and careless and its getting us nowhere fast .

I appreciate for a 15 minute period in the second half we appeared to lose our minds which all started with Ossie's poor challenge that conceded the free kick before the first goal but that goal was clearly offside and should not have stood.

The standard of officials this season appears to be worse than ever before, the Ref in the first half was letting so much go it was just a joke. He clearly is not up to it and neither are either of the linesman who did nothing to help him.

It's a clear penalty in real time and the keeper should have been sent off.

There appears to be no accountability for officials or the League for allowing this non-sense week in week out. It quite simply ruins the game.

Why is the Ref not interviewed afterwards and shown his mistakes and asked to explain his awful performance along with his team?

Blame Ainsworth, blame the staff, blame the players and blame the owners all you want, sack everyone, burn it all down but the fact remains that was another game today I thought we could have got something from if the correct decisions had been made by the officials.

We can't continue to be this unlucky all season.

Ref on 07:32 - Oct 1 with 6078 viewsnix

If officials have no bearing on the outcome then why do we have them? Of course they influence the result because the decisions they make affect how the game plays out. Otherwise we might as well have the players deciding between themselves.

I can't understand why the cynical fouls in the first half weren't penallised. I don't understand why their players being booked wouldn't have made a difference. Firstly because they couldn't repeat the infringement because they would most likely get sent off and secondly because other players are less likely to try their luck knowing they are going to be booked. Another thing is I think the early decisions led to our frustrations in the second half and the bookings of Armstrong, Smyth and Cook.

Two poor decisions by the ref have a massive affect on the game. Once they score their first it's so much more likely for them to get a second: their tails are up, we lost confidence, we are more likely to press for an equaliser leaving holes at the back etc, etc. The lack of the clear penalty decision (even if there are centimetres in it 99% of refs would have thought that was in the box) would have given us the motivation to come back into the game.

If you keep getting these decisions against you, particularly at home where you expect more of the rub of the green, then it influences players' confidence and belief.

Yes we should have played better at home. Yes the officials were awful and we shouldn't have to keep putting up with this week in week out. And yes this could well have affected the outcome.

The ref was diabolical. Agreed it would have made little difference but so bored of seeing such ineptitude. Why can't a lino make a decision these days?

No-one has mentioned the JCS tackle down the loft end early in the match in our penalty box - I was right in front of it and thought it was a penalty to them.

The Armstrong one right up there with the Austin offside goal against Sunderland, if not as important.

The way yesterday went we'd have missed the penalty / failed to create anything against 10 men anyway.

We had a pretty good view of JCS challenge . It looked fine to me and there was little or no reaction from
Coventrys players. Shit ref , poor decisions but Ainsworth lack of a plan for playing at home are killing us.

Absolutely. Not just the pen, but his ridiculous allergy to carding Cov's strategy of kicking Chair and Willock in rotation during the first half. Donkey McFadzian took someone out early doors. Da Silva did the same on Willock and he got another yellow later.
Those sorts of decision indicate a man who was never in control.

It was inept from the start. But then so were we.

Can we go out yet?
Poll: What would you take for Willock if a bid comes this month?
