That daft parking scheme around the COA 15:26 - Jul 24 with 5000 views | Sandyman | Not approved. There is a massively worded report available but the bottom line is: "1.5 Formal representation was received in-total from 133 properties (8 percent of the households consulted) plus an additional 22 visitors to the area. On this basis, 92 percent of those consulted (circa 1,500 properties) did not respond. 1.6 Of those who did respond, 60 percent wrote in-objection to the proposed scheme with 40 percent voting in-support. Recommendation 2.1 The advertised scheme satisfied the requirements of the commissioning brief. 2.2 After detailed consideration of the results presented herein, Highways do not recommend the introduction of an RPZ. 2.3 In light of the scale and nature of representation received, Members should decide on whether to abandon the RPZ and/or consider potential alternatives. for managing on-street parking that could include such things as the introduction of localised prohibition of waiting restrictions and/or limited waiting bays. Reason for Recommendation 3.1 Highways have made the recommendation to Members not pursue the RPZ proposal for the following key reasons:- a) The very low rate of response (received from only 8 percent of households); b) The 60 percent respondent bias in-objection to the proposed RPZ; c) The consultation outcome does not meet the Council’s policy criteria for progressing an RPZ scheme to Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) stage; and, d) An RPZ is a very strong form of TRO with alternatives that may be better suited to managing localised parking issues within the Spotland area." Have forwarded the full report to Dale Trust.

That daft parking scheme around the COA on 16:20 - Jul 24 with 4820 views | SuddenLad | This was only ever about a few nobodies, with inflated egos, trying to make a name for themselves. Well they have. Bloody clowns. Now bu$$er off and let us all get on with our various lives without petty, spiteful interventions.

And who I wonder, benefited from the £6,000 of taxpayers money? That's a disgrace in itself. It should never have been authorised.

I made the mistake of reading that! Blimey. Millions of words with no obvious outcome. There was, however, a gem hidden in there.... "Events are relatively short and infrequent, taking place for around 3 hours each, on circa 30 occasions per annum." Fook me. That's one hell of a cup run!

Nope - it was only to cover Saturday and Tuesday nights. And Hornets don't attract enough fans to cause any street parking

Maybe Rana responded twice, once as a visitor and once as a resident so only counts as one person? He does have history with this sort of thing.

That was the budget for the feasibility study. But Elected Members do have the power to overturn best advice from Officers. "5.2 Should Members choose to progress with the promotion of this RPZ proposal against a Highways recommendation, or instead seek to investigate the development of any alternative scheme, relevant costs would be incurred for further design development, parking survey as required, and due process for consultation and/or legal advertisement." That would significantly increase the spend way about the feasibility budget figure. However, unless Elected Members see sense this is not yet a 'done deal.' As perhaps the largest ever proposed RPZ within the Borough the cost of signage, potential road markings etc . would require an eye-boggling total amount of money and also would need 'policing.'

A ULEZ zone and 15 minute city will be next on the agenda..... they tried in Deeplish with their road-blocking " plant pots" and the locals set fire to them...perhaps they were hoping the people living near the ground would be more amenable to parking restrictions as a way to start to normalise them and restrict car usage. Has anyone tried to park in the town centre to go to the Bank? Even getting into the town centre is becoming impossible much less parking. Our freedoms are being eroded slowly but surely.
