Is it? Really? I’ve been expecting something like this today. It’s going to drag on, not just Martin’s move but our next appointment as well. I can feel it in my bones!

Unless Swansea withdraws Martin's permission to approach other clubs Soton can drag this out as long as they like. They can be as awkward as they like if the compensation issue doesn’t suit them. And still there would be no guarantee he'd be appointed. In effect they could just hold off until we blink and there really isn’t much we can do about it.

I guess its already been discussed as part of the negotiations but perhaps a compromise could be take an amount now of £1.5M which is the middle ground between the PL and Championship valuation with a further £0.25M paid in the event Russ gets them promoted At least that way both sides can move on. If they want Russ that much and believe in his ability to get them back to the PL next season then surely they are willing to pay...or have the new regime at Southampton decided Russ want the man for them and are using the compo as an "excuse" for not engaging him

Beggars belief Exactly what is the issue They offer him a job. He accepts or not. If he s still under contract ,then Soton pay component. If they don’t want to or he doesn’t want to go,then he stays OMG

| Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

How is it Martin's fault or Southampton's fault if our owners are playing hardball over the compo? Ok, Southampton are playing hardball too but we stand to come off much worse if they decide to pull the plug and move on. We must have given martin permission to talk to the Saints, then we went all businesslike over the compo and Southampton have simplynsaid they'll wait to offer him the job until they are a Championship club. They still get their man and no doubt he's communicatinh his needs to them through all this. In the meantime we are in limbo, we won't gain financially, we'll disrupt another pre-season, we'll miss out on transfer targets and many of us fans will be quite anxious about all ths the longer it takes. Do whats best for the club not what keeps your ego bloated FFS!

One could say its Southamptons fault for not just paying what is listed in the RM contract. It would have been over weeks ago.

Whilst I don't disagree, but we have got previous for dragging things out to the bitter end, which does impact on us doing things, lets face facts Levien couldn't actually give a monkeys chuff about the footballing side of things, despite spouting plenty of sound bites that says different.

What if Piroe and Grimes are part of the deal with Martin, same as Downes was when he came here, and they want it on the cheap? Do you just want us to roll over? Good on the club for playing hardball

Martin discussions not complete on 19:36 - Jun 14 with 2546 views | magicdaps10 | I think the issue is, Soton won't announce him without being 100% sure they don't pay the higher fee and are reliant on negotiating a settlement with us.....tjat in itself should give the clear picture of whom is in the right or not. Soton need to either take the leap or both parties need to come to some agreement quickly.......unless we have a Manager ready to step in them our board will just carry on playing hardball.

Playing hardball and then folding when the ball turns soft. Undisclosed fees etc.

So if it's sorted, but the fee is undisclosed, then that must mean the "yanks" folded, how would you know that without being involved? Why couldn't it be that Southampton came to a mutual agreement? Or, Southampton folded.🤔

That's the thing, nobody knows, both saints and us are playing hard ball, its known clubs that we want funds in through the door, so when it comes to who will blink first who do you think it'll be?? Its fair to say that a fair few of our deals are undisclosed. [Post edited 14 Jun 2023 20:31]

I think if we blink first, it will be in order to announce a new manager, I would guess that we're a fair way down the road as far as selecting our new manager, but until we get our man, there's no need to blink, I think Southampton will be as frustrated as we are, if they start to announce new signings, then I think Martin would have unofficially started his new job, that should give our American friends more leeway. As you say " a fair few of our deals are undisclosed ", I'd expect this w I'll be the same.

Martin was reported to be heading on an aeroplane to the USA to talk about a contract extension. The next thing we knew he was not going and Southampton was interested in his services as PL club . This outlet stated Martin declined to travel. It sounds to me as if Martin was possibly tapped up without any permission to talk. Martin is under contract as we speak. If Southampton want to take him they must pay. The contract might not be a contract buy out but simply a guide price or a price at which Swansea which Swansea will inform the manager of their interest. Swansea recruitment will proceed without a manager. If Martin was manager 2 years ago he might have vetoed Piroe. The recruitment provided Cooper with Goykeres available for £1m and Cooper did not develop him. They were right and Cooper was wrong as Coventry will get a minimum of £12m and asking for £20m. The owners interest in the club is financial and emotional that counts.

Surely this is now getting ridiculous? I can’t believe both clubs haven’t made some sort of statement either way!
