FIFA World Cup thread. 12:02 - Nov 15 with 139000 viewsSnipper

I’m trying to get excited about this World Cup, but to no avail :-((.

I’ve just watched Sky Sports World Cup preview with Gary Neville, Jamie Redknapp, Jamie Carragher & Karen Carney. Utterly depressing viewing. Same old, same old. Picking players for the starting XI not playing for their clubs, or totally off form.

I’m hoping this thread can get the juices flowing.

Do any of you think England have a chance?

With Rashford and Foden scoring hopefully the North Battersea cu^t doesn't reappear for us in this World Cup

That's what happens when you have Tony Roberts as your goalkeeping coach

Lol.... true.

The three of them play in different positions. Henderson replaced Mount tonight and should do again vs Senegal.

Still amazes me how Southgate can not see what a difference Foden makes to this team..... the only downside is the Tvvat Morgan will be crowing how right he was.....

Keeper isn't going to want to watch the highlights of this ever again is he. Rashford for the golden boot!

We’re beating our rivals 3-0 after an unbeaten run and a top of the group finish.

Let’s give Southgate (and Rashford and Mount) a break eh.

A fantastic performance and didn't give Wales a sniff

Apart from Qatar , Wales have been the worst team in this tournament
Glad we don’t have to listen to the fawning BBC over their “passion”
Great result same team on Sunday Mr Southgate

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

1 step closer to France in the quarters. I'm in France that weekend so quite fancy that fixture, unless we lose

Well that was very enjoyable..... a really good 2nd half from the lads
Can't find much to moan about that performance..... everyone did their job.
Got to say that Wales were poor and the keeper really should have saved 2 of those goals.... but there was 3 goals between those teams
MOTM well most likely Foden, but special mention to Rashford, Bellingham.... and especially for Henderson he is a true leader
But the joy for me as well was Grealish with his little Cameo.... the guy is lovely to watch

Southgate got the selection for this game spot on. We look a very dangerous team on the front foot. Like the attacking option of Kane, Rashford and Foden, with Grealish coming on. Giving Bellingham free midfield role is the way to go. Good rotation of squad as well when we were in control, though Callum Wilson looked handy when he came on for Kane.

If England beat Senegal we’ll have Seny back for the Burnley game!

England were excellent again, some real selection headaches for the weekend as Rashford and Foden both very good but Saka also in excellent form and Sterling usually good for England as well. Thought Henderson had a good game as well but Wales were a shambles. Should have gone after England first 10 mins, really put us under pressure but they just stood off us and let us dictate the game, to hear them say they were outstanding first half I'm not sure what game they were watching. They were awful like watching England under Hodgson

Well he can see it, he's played him plenty of times but has other very good options in those positions. Likes of Saka, Grealish, Maddison, Sterling could make a case for all of them to start as well

England so much better with Foden in the team the best at pressing in the team after all it's how he has been trained to play for 6 years under Pep

And Southgate holding Foden back till tonight arguably motivated him to put in such a good performance. That’s good squad management and one of the reasons why Southgate is the second most successful England manager of all time.

Southgate takes plenty to criticism but he seems to have a knack for getting the small decisions right and it’s taken England to a semi final and final. Now it’s time to go one better, if only the next game wasn’t on ITV with the curse!

We won the semi final last year on ITV and beat Colombia in the last world cup so think the curse thing is a bit of a myth now although we can't buy a win on Channel 4

If we get through the quarter final is on itv as well

To be honest when I wrote that it reflected his first half performance where he couldn’t trap a wet bag of cement or find his own teammate from 10 yards. Fair play to him in the second half. Switching wings with Foden suited him perfectly and called it with a great free kick. He’s set himself a standard and he has to keep to it now. And hopefully Mount doesn’t see a minute more action for the team.

Wales were the second-worst team in the finals behind Qatar. Apart from one half against the US, they've stunk the place out. Reckon the US will give the Netherlands a decent match.
