The German and French clubs don't want it. Well done them.

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

So if it’s another league in addition to their place in the PL, then this is a further step to a breakaway league full stop. So give them till Friday to decide if they want to be in the PL next season, or not. The rules are, if you go:
1. No players will be eligible for national teams, worldwide.
2. We will allow the PL/FL to reduce to 86 teams, then in 5 years when you realise this doesn’t work, you can apply to come back. But you will be placed in league 2 and work yourselves up, like Rangers had to do when they went in to administration.

These are the rules, good luck to you.

They had no choice as the clubs are 51% owned by fans I believe. Not a bad idea that.
Personally I think if the so called big six want this then go ahead. For several years they have held football as a whole to ransom, and demand more money or else.
Covid proved football is nothing without fans. So... if fans boycott this breakaway...then they fail. It’s as simple as that. What’s more complex however is how UEFA creat a level playing field for ALL clubs in the future which prevents a minority dictating to the majority.

The potential European”Super” League, featuring the team that haven’t won their own domestic league since 1961. Also starring currently London’s 4th highest ranked club who are currently 9th in the league! Staggering levels of hubris, even forgetting the odious greed.

No promotion/relegation, no qualification for other completions, no jeopardy, no history, no meaning. This glorified pre-season friendly tournament doesn’t appeal to me in the slightest.

Also, “European”? It has 3 clubs from London, 3 from the Greater Manchester area, 3 from North West Italy, 2 from Madrid and 1 from Barcelona. That is all. Essentially 5 metropolitan areas in 3 countries are guaranteed representation. Basically a plastic tournament for plastic fans lacking any sort of drama, emotion or soul. Sounds like a disaster to me.

The thing is UEFA will probably fold and give in, look at the FFP law, its a joke, clubs get fined and just pay the fine, just how can clubs pay players 200 to 600 grand a week, think Messi gets more and be under FFP law limits.

I agree. I also agree they should go for it and hopefully come down to Earth with a huge bump. The avarice of agents, players and owners,is, or has killed the game for the ordinary fan. But then again it’s the ordinary fan who keep parting with their hard earned that gives encouragement for greedy owners to keep pushing the limits as to how much they can screw us for.

Simon Jordan this week will be worth a listen, albeit on talk sport.

On a more positive note the Swans get promoted if they stay in the top six if the six are booted out.

And a reasonable chance that Wrexham might get back into the football league

Having spent some time in the States I find that the franchise and protectionism of the major professional sports over there protected by no relegation pretty pathetic and detrimental to the excitement of those sports.

It’s happened

Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham are among 12 clubs who have agreed to join a new European Super League (ESL).

In a seismic move for European football, the Premier League clubs will join AC Milan, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Juventus and Real Madrid.

The ESL said the founding clubs had agreed to establish a "new midweek competition" and that the inaugural season "is intended to commence as soon as practicable".

It also "anticipated that a further three clubs will join" the breakaway.

Manchester United co-chairman Joel Glazer will be a vice-chairman of the Super League.

He said: "By bringing together the world's greatest clubs and players to play each other throughout the season, the Super League will open a new chapter for European football, ensuring world-class competition and facilities, and increased financial support for the wider football pyramid."
