Saints V Brighton Matchday Thread on 11:36 - Mar 14 with 2888 views | dirk_doone | Let's hope the lesson has been learned not to make crossfield passes in front of our own goal, that Diallo, especially, has been working a lot on his passing in training, and that the whole team has been practising how to defend against high crosses and corners. Passes need to go forwards quickly and into the opposition half as soon as possible. Slow sideways and backwards passes in our own half should be an absolute last resort, not the first passes our players look to make. If Lallana gets 1 on 1 on Vestergaard, he's going to try one of his Cruyff turns. A second defender will need to be ready to back him up. [Post edited 14 Mar 2021 11:49]

Walker-Peters could be the key player for us. Brighton's equivalent is Lamptey and they are going to miss him badly. Brighton don't have a lot of pace without him, so we need to make it a fast moving game. Although, he's quite slow, Dan Burn is surprisingly skilful for a big defender and he needs to be watched carefully when going forward, as he starts a lot of their attacks. He can be drawn into clumsy challenges when disposessed so getting him a yellow card would help. [Post edited 14 Mar 2021 11:57]

We don't have that consistently good keeper 10i that you would say, that is the guy we want in between the posts at all times. I said to my son last night, we'll play Forster now for a little while until he starts to make mistakes etc then we will go back to McCarthy and then vice versa. I don't rate either of our keepers especially as I come from an era of Shilton, Clemence, Corrigant, Jennings etc. Anyway, just as I write this we have equalised with a good Adams goal so hopefully we can press on now.

Awful Mind you what was Bertrand attempting to do not marking Dunk and why wasn’t vestergaard marking him!?
Saints V Brighton Matchday Thread on 12:29 - Mar 14 with 2692 views | dirk_doone | Great finish from Adams. He is a natural goal scorer. He always hits the ball hard so there is no chance of stopping it. [Post edited 14 Mar 2021 12:30]

Brighton are lobbing it long over the top of our defence & causing no end of problems - making us panic like headless chickens.

We don’t look like we have got out of 2nd gear. On the bright side we can’t be worse in the 2nd half

Agree. I feel nervous every time Brighton get near our goal. We miss the strength of Romeu in midfield.

Hopefully we will improve. We need to get the ball forward quicker. That Adams goal was just about our only proper shot on target. We do look shaky at the back though. Potter has told them to lob the ball over our back line & we look nervous whenever we're facing our own goal. We're definitely going to have to improve a lot in order to win this game.
