Swansea recycling fines 06:51 - Feb 26 with 14709 viewsLord_Bony

Residents of Swansea can now be fined £100 as from today for failing to recycle waste. New patrol officers will be checking black bin bags on collection day.

If any recyclable material is found and that includes food, fines will be issued. They have been trying to get this implemented since 2006.

Don’t listen to the wrong answer then. If the takeaway container is made of foil it goes in the green bag with your bottles, tins etc. If (as is more usual these days) it’s made of plastic it goes in the pink bag. Simple. Recycling is only as hard as people want to make it. Rocket science it ain’t.

We don't have green bags in NPT, but we do have green boxes that glass and metal go into, so i'm assuming foil containers should go in there

Ah if you’re in NPT I can’t help you. You’d have to ask someone who lives there. All the info I’ve posted is based on Swansea recycling rules.

Why the government or LGA can’t get a policy together so that every council adopts the same procedures I don’t know.

It’s an issue for me because I have a holiday home business and guests come from all over the country. I put all the information I can in my information pack and on the notice boards but the number of them that get it wrong is disproportionate. This means I have to open the bags and correctly allocate the waste. Not a fun job I can tell you.

Well maybe they’ll get a committee together with some splinter working groups once Brexit is done and dusted. That’ll keep them busy for a while and doing something useful for once😄

Not all wrong, i may add, just been putting tin cans in with the glass into the green bins and they should have been put elsewhere. It hasn't been a problem , collected regularly every week.

Funny thing about the council strive to lower the landfill, the green plastic bin they issue you with for food recycling! Guess where that goes,(when it's knackered) in the black bag, well so Iv'e been told anyway.

Crazy, same as spotless plastic paint tubs, they have to go in the black bag as well.
