If you own a dog, does your house smell of dogs?
If you are a dog owner, do you think it doesn’t but someone who doesn’t own a dog can smell it when they enter your abode?
If you don’t own a dog, what are your thoughts on these questions?

I don't own a dog but my girlfriend does. He's a standard poodle and he doesnt moult or smell unless he pants due to stress etc. Most breeds smell because of their oily skin. You'd have to be noseblind not to notice and it does stay on furniture etc etc. The best answer to that is to have tiled floors/flagstones or laminate floors and leather sofas.

I look after in-laws dog now and again and the dog does stink the place out for a day or so after he has gone. I personally not a dog lover and hate looking after the in-laws dog and always moan and throw the line "They got it, they look after it and not pass it on to us".

Some dogs smell better than their owners. I can see in a few years that there will be a dog grooming perfume range.

There’s no doubt my house smells of dog however much I try to mask it with sweet smelling spray
It’s something most dog owners accept

Daughter has a Malinois which lodges with us from time to time

They have a double coat and are not keen on hot weather like this .

They leave a doggie smell but it's not half as unpleasant as some of the filthy, stinking hovels that about with people who don't wash much

I’m very lucky in this regard in that my wife smells worse than my dog.
I’m also very lucky that she doesn’t read this forum.

I have 2 dogs and I prefer them to most people. They do smell though and I'm sure there is a bit of a doggy smell in the house and car even though all the family are conditioned not to notice it. Visitors are generally too polite to comment unless you really ask and the answer invariably is "yes it smells a bit doggy". I have 2 females and i think they smell less musky than males.

I wonder what's better - a house that smells doggy or a dog that smells housey?

As the old adage has it, a house without a dog is not a home.

My wife once said, 'You love Leon Britton more than me'.

To which I retorted,' Darling, I love Kyle Naughton more than you'.

They stink, especially when wet. I won’t have one despite the kids endless moaning over the years.
The in laws have one and the mother in law insists on taking it everywhere. When they come up the house I tell the missus to get that horrid thing out of here and don’t forget the dog.

We bought current house because it has wood/laminate floors and tiles and put leather chairs in as we know the dogs make the house smell and we would be nose blind. We also have burners when we know we are having visitors as much as we try to discourage them.

But it is better to have them than not if only to keep those darned cats away.

Don't know about house, but last time I changed the car, the salesman said at one place the part exchange was lower because as dogs had been in the car they had to pay extra to have it deep cleaned! I walked out and went elsewhere!

Never knew getting old would happen so quick!
