The election results thread 19:10 - Jun 8 with 57875 views | exiledclaseboy | Polls close 10pm. BBC, ITV and SKY release the results of their joint exit poll also at 10pm. Some of you may remember election night two years ago when the exit poll predicted a Tory win. It was roundly ridiculed by politicians of all parties and most us on here. You could see Professor John Curtice (who oversees the poll) visibly wilting and wondering if he'd just wrecked his career and reputation. The same Prof Curtice got progressively more smug as the night rolled on and it turned out his poll was more or less spot on. First result due about 11pm. From Sunderland. The outcome may be a foregone conclusion but it should be exciting for about an hour or so. Get it stickied for 24 hours or so please, mods. Oh, and can someone keep Perch and Bluey away from sharp objects please. Just in case.

The election results thread on 23:31 - Jun 8 by sherpajacob | The guy on itv said exit poll was based on polling in about 100 odds seats. So I would assume they polled the marginals and not places like Sunderland. The key will be the amount of tactical voting and turnout in these seats. I hope that is,what the exit poll is based on. Either way even if Tories get 330 seats it's a disaster for them |
Yeah - I was just listening to some sort of explanation about postal votes as well which didn't make much sense to me. And they said that the exits mean that a Tory majority of 40 is not out of the question (which was my starting prediction). My brief hope of a non Brexit is beginning to wane a bit...

Bed, radio and headphones for me soon. Radio 5 though, because I don't have middle class pretensions.

You needn't worry about Brexit, Lisa, Loh will still be around to sweep you away to Paris, regaling you with tales of fighting communists whilst smoking continental cigarettes. We really need some marginals to come in. I suspect the Newcastle UKIP votes going to Labour was an anomaly.

The worst until Johnson/davis/gove/hammond/ leadsom delete as appropriate could be an accurate description. I really hope Ken Clarke gets back in, especially if the Tories get a majority of 1

| Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.
