Can someone quantify quiet?

Mrs C and I like Majorca very much, particularly Cala D'Or. It's not high rise but it's also not what I call quiet. However we also like peace and quiet and could get by for ten days with just our own company and a handful of good restaurants. So where should we venture?

I thought it was a bit crap when I went there a few years ago. Lovely capital and harbour but way too many holiday makers for my liking.

Cala Mondrago down the coast a few miles only has a couple of Hotels due to it being situated in a National Park. Two lovely beaches as I remember back in 1987, we stayed in the basic but friendly, family run Hotel Mondrago, even got engaged while we were there.

Ciudadela is best place to eat and Mahon to visit. Some quiet beaches in north which require car .

Others full of families.

Fook that

Don't get that. It is busy during high season. Far from quiet. We stayed ar Son Bou self catering. Ate out every night. Sometimes in small quiet towns. Other times in the resort which was far from quiet. We hired a car and there are many interesting places to visit. The two main towns. An amazing sandstone quarry with gardens and sculptures. Some great walks in marshland plus hidden coves to visit. Loads of historical sites. For an island roughly 25 X 8m i think there is plenty to do. Even for a fortnight. One day visiting, one day chilling by the beach. Here endeth the Menorcan Tourist Board Broadcast. :-)

Just personal opinion really.

Nice drive up to that big church in the mountains and Cuitedella beach is nice.

But for me,I'm a cultured chav at heart...I prefer the big entertainment that Majorca has to offer. So much more to see and do there.

Same as Canaries a lot of people prefer the quietness of Fuerta Ventura to say Tenerife. Horses for courses I suppose.

It's a running joke with my parents when growing up. The last holiday I had with my parents was to Son Bou, to an apartment complex on top of a hill. I had never been so bored for two weeks in my life, and even began drinking to numb the pain......something I'm sure my parents regretted in the years (and states that followed).

So, even though now it probably would be great for a nice getaway, as a youngster, it was used as a joke threat to me that if I did something bad, my parents would threaten to send me to Menorca. Also, I do like to remind them that it was their fault for my ludicrous drunken states over the years by taking me there, unleashing a beast that just could not be controlled.

Mrs and I holidayed in Cala D'Or this year at an Adults Only Hotel, no screaming rug rats just blissful peace and quiet, delightful it was to, just a shame they don't do adult only beaches
