We only need another centre back and we are ready

Neil Taylor has been told he is important for the Peterborough game.

He'd prefer to play players that had been with us since July. But Ki and Gylfi are important for the Hull game. We need a number 10 even if Gylfi can't play 90 mins yet.

Baston out, Leon sounds out.

Jeff played in Copa America in June. Ecuador lost in the QF to USA on June 16. I believe that was his last competitive action until he played in our final friendly.

If im not mistaken we have reached our foreign quota. Therefore, somebody like Tabanou will need to be omitted from the 25 man squad if we sign another foreigner.

Not sure if that's applicable anymore? I believe we need to have a certain amount of "home grown" players in the squad.

Ah yes, the homegrown quota. Guidolin will either need to buy British or exclude a foreign player if he signs another foreigner.

We can only have a squad of 25 (this doesn't include anyone under the age of 21). Of that 25 I think at least 8 of them need to be what's classed as home grown. The rest of the squad can come from anywhere.

Looks like unless we get rid of tabanou or emnes we will go for a British CB. Definitely not deneyar by the sound of it. Perhaps there was something in the shawcross rumour but I can't see it as he's not the ball playing CB type.

I'm sure we are in for an interesting 2 weeks or so.

If we believe in Amat and the Horn, we may as well just bring the Kyle Donkey back from Leeds and see how it goes to January.

I hope not. But I take your point on Amat and the horn and waiting till Jan. There is of course a caveat with that... if we need reinforcements then we will be paying inflated prices which of course is not what we do. So the question is do we want to make it easier for ourselves?

There is more hope of some posters on this board being named in our squad as Tabanou.

The rule is 8 homegrown if 25 squad, 7 if 24 etc etc. In other words 17 overseas max. We have 7 homegrown.

Without Emnes, Tabanou and one of the goalkeepers (we won't name 4 - if there are injuries you can adjust for a goalkeeper on an emergency basis) we only have a squad of 22 I believe. So we can bring in 2 overseas players plus one homegrown. If they are still here, and we don't need the space, I imagine we'll name Emnes.

Naming 25 when we have no European competition is pretty excessive anyway - Chelsea named 20 last season I believe.

Britton
Cork
Dyer
Naughton
Routledge
Taylor

Who is the 7th homegrown player? I assume we can't count the Scots; otherwise we'd have enough with two out of Kingsley and Fulton or McBurnie.

Maybe it's Fulton. Assuming his Wikipedia page is correct, he represents Scotland but he was born in Bolton.

But if that's good enough, we should be able to count McBurnie too, because he was born in Leeds.

Siggy is homegrown Tummer.

McBurnie will be as well, but is under 21 at the moment.

spot on Lisa.

the limits are only 17 non homegrown players in 25.

the rest must be homegrown - although you can have unlimited U21s.

So you could have no homegrown, but then you could only have a squad of 17.

As it stands, we can only have a squad of 24.

but with Tabanou and Emnes already been told they are surplus, plus one keeper to drop out, we have room for 3 players if one of them is homegrown. or 2 non-HG.

The Manager says he only wants a central defender, so that means he can be an 'overseas' player. and so it sounds like we will go with a 23 man squad

Current squad

Homegrown
1. Kyle Naughton
2. Neil Taylor
3. Leon Britton
4. Gylfi Sigurðsson
5 Jack Cork
6 Wayne Routledge
7. Nathan Dyer
8. free

Non-Homegrown

1 Łukasz Fabiański
2 Mark Birighitti / free?
3 Kristoffer Nordfeldt
4 Gerhard Tremmel / free?
5 Àngel Rangel
6 Stephen Kingsley
7 Jordi Amat
8 Mike van der Hoorn
9 Federico Fernández
10 Ki Sung-yueng
11 Leroy Fer
12 Jay Fulton
13 Modou Barrow
14 Jefferson Montero
15 Fernando Llorente
16 Borja Baston
17 free

Another CB is vital, Fernandez is currently playing with a slight injury so we'll need cover if gets worse.
