Its stranģe 12 goals in 3 away games and so much negativity on this board myself included. A couple of strikers and we are ready to go. If however we were to sell say Ash or Ayew next week with nobody coming in I will fear the worse.

There's definitely a pattern developing in all these friendlies and the way things are shaping up, Mo could become an outstanding player for us this coming season. His progress since FG took over has been remarkable and I hope it continues.

Couple of strikers, a right back and (less urgent) a wider / creative type attacking midfielder. Could live with McBurnie as our second striker if we keep Ayew and bring in the wide / creative player.

Dont let this and the other results fool you!! We need two strikers.

Wolves vs Swans Thread on 16:59 - Jul 30 with 2048 views | Clinton | When announced, some on the Wolves forum thought we werent a big enough 'draw' for their Jack Hayward memorial game. I hope a 4-0 spanking sets them straight. Just think what the score would have been if they were playing a big club?

Wolves vs Swans Thread on 16:01 - Jul 30 by GTCJack | Some good saves from Nordtfeldt. His kicking is poor. Ayew hardly touched the ball. Not a great game but good finish from Routs. Less than 600 here I would imagine. [Post edited 30 Jul 2016 16:01]

Whats your gut feeling on the new owners then. Are they going to take the club forward or strip it to the bone. I really cant decide i think we will know either way in the next month or so.

Aye I don't think you're alone in seeing the next month as pretty vital. It doesn't all have to be unremittingly negative though as it seems to have been with massive logic leaps as to how the club is shit now and being bled dry. We have a number of good players, some very good players. The only thing that would fatally derail us in my view (rather than just not be desirable) would be Ayew out and no decent forwards in. Or Sigurdsson out. Actually as Ayew could be injured at any time, we need a decent forward whether he goes or not. Two if he goes. Darran is right, there is no reason we can't spend and I still expect around 25m to be committed before Sept 1.

In my second option I am classing Ayew as a striker (hence the wide player) so we have 2 strikers (McBurnie being the third).

The squad definitely needs strengthening up front. Having said though it does seem Frankie is doing the biz without these and a few first teamers waiting to come back. I know it is lower league opposition but impressive nethertheless. Long may it continue......

Not just Barrow either, he seems to have re-vitalized Routs as well.

It makes no sense for them to buy us as an asset strip, there are far better businesses to get than a football club and far better clubs to buy than us if football is their desired way to go. I think they're in it for what they say - medium to longer term, wait for bigger TV deals in conjunction with a bigger commercial profile and sell for a big profit. BUT - I suspect that they don't realise that the constantly increasing competitiveness of the PL means that there is a genuine chance of relegation if you get things wrong. That may mean that they are not yet woken up to the money it probably needs to stay comfortable within this division. They will need to be taken on that journey by Huw Jenkins and others. But I personally believe we are in one of those periods where Huw is indulging in a bit of paralysis by analysis stuff - it happens every time there is a sea change in the amount of money being thrown round - it takes us a while to catch on because of Huw's naturally cautious instincts. The only genuine mistake I think we've made so far this window is failing to sign Joe. I think that's a real mistake. But we move on. Selling Ayew will be a mistake unless we get in about £25m plus for him. Similarly with Siggy. And some of the forwards mentioned are terrible ideas - particularly Crouch. The proof of the pudding will be in who we buy this week. If we go into the season with what we have I think that'll be completely idiotic. We have a genuine gap not only up front but at right back and creative midfield / central midfield. Leon and Rangel are simply not good enough to start any longer in my view, and God knows what our bench would consist of.

He has a reputation of getting the best out of players and developing others. Seems to be happening here and I ain't counting my chickens yet but it does give me some optimism for the season. If we can only just get those few essential signings in that we need.

Wolves vs Swans on 16:27 - Jul 30 by A_Fans_Dad | Alright at League 1 and Championship level, but how about in the Prem? |
Starting line up wasn't far off the team that played at West Ham and that didn't go too badly.
