This American take over on 17:20 - Jul 19 by CaliforniaJack | But would the share buyers start discussions with the the trust if the share buyout had not been completed? Preliminary discussions maybe - but they certainly would not hold full on meetings to discuss a new shareholder agreement or plans for the clubs future until all things financial and legal had been completed. Several posters in this thread seem to want to blame either the share buyers or the share sellers or both and cannot seem to comprehend that discussions may not be able to take place until both of the above have been completed. Lets wait and see what happens this week with the potential announcement of the completed purchase and what the new share holders have to say (said he struggling to wade through the the volumes of pessimism here today) |
Excellent post, hope the new owners include in any press statement their position in respect of investment in new signings which are urgently required, especially up front.

The Trust has and had exactly the same right to full and detailed information as any other shareholder. The incoming owners could and should have shared detailed plans at some point during the past 8 months of so. Perhaps the reason for people being pessimistic is that the Trust have been kept in the dark, not involved in any discussion about the future of a company that they part own. No one knows where the money is coming from it seems, what if any investment will be made, how it will be structured etc etc etc. Never mind - their frontman 'got it'. What a joy.
This American take over on 17:42 - Jul 19 with 2344 views | MattG | Maybe I'm missing something but it seems a bit strange to me that, by avoiding any meaningful discussions with the Trust, the new Shareholders will have effectively purchased their shares without knowing what Shareholders Agreement they might be bound by. Unless, of course, they are happy with the one that is already in place. Of course, I might have totally misunderstood how these things work.

The one that is in place will apply unless changes are agreed. The more shocking issue is that the Trust is effectively investing £21m in a company when it hasn't seen the business plan, ownership structure, capital structure etc etc.

To me, that suggests that the new owners must be pretty comfortable with the existing one. Agree re: the Trust's investment - interesting way of looking at it actually. One other question I know has been discussed many times (blame my failing memory) is whether drag-along rights exist in this situation?

If you're correct, do we really want people unable to hold two parallel conversations running the club? You're lookign to buy a house. Somebody owns a couple of the bedrooms and the kitchen. But no, you buy the rest and worry about being able to cook some chips later. Seriously?

No need, he wrote his living eulogy to all things swanky yankee ages ago; it's been ready for remote release for months. Expect to see that the 'investment' has been successfully completed to enable te move to the 'next level' or some such shit.

Cooze is still cozying up to Jenkins or Levien out in the States is beyond me. It's as clear as day the Trust is being ignored. I'm no fan of Shaky and his conspiracy crap, but surely to God the Trust is on a war footing now? |

You cracked it when you said Cooze was in the USA .... May I put forward a question as to why he is there and who paid for him to be there ? And finally who endorsed it ?

And would it be cynical to suggest his seeming lack of opposition is linked to all these free global outings he is receiving?

Yes. He is part of the trust board therefore any perceived lack of opposition should be aimed at them collectively rather than at the supporter director personally. I would suggest that in the cartoon the trust board including the supporter director is on the outside looking in rather than being on the inside.

Orwell was a socialist. He wrote the book because he believed that Stalin had corrupted the ideals of socialism, not because he believed socialism to be hypocritical.

Oh, so you don't understand the book. It's an attack on communism, and how communism is fundamentally totalitarianism. Communism always betrays the basic principles of socialism, the sort of state established by the post-war British government when they introduced free healthcare and a range of other social initiatives aimed at eradicating poverty. Orwell became anti-communist during the Spanish Civil War when he fought with the socialists, against the communists.
