What about the header he failed to even connect with? The shot in the second half that went over the bar? How can a 'striker' fail to hit the target so often? I think I had as many attempts on target as him and I was in the stands. [Post edited 22 Mar 2015 20:09]

I forgot about the header, good shout, like to see it again but at the time thought he should have done better.
I have no expectation that bobby will score. He's picked because we don't have anyone else who can consistently hold the ball up.
I'd argue that today we might have been better off playing without a target man and playing through everton on the deck. But if you are going to lump it forward then bobby almost always brings other players in to play, he got his fair share on knock downs etc.
When he went of and we lumped it the ball came straight back. Then we brought on adel and actually played football. I was delighted.
But that doesn't mean bobby had an especially bad game he just did what bobby does. |  |

Because he is not a front man. He needs to have another forward working with him.
And we are yet to see that being tried and tested. It's so stupid it's making my blood boil.
From what we have now, there's no excuse not to play Adel on the left, Matt on the right and Edu up top with Charlie.
Pains me to see our coaching staff fails to see this.
With Harry it was more a matter of him not even bothering to see it. He seemed to have an agenda against some players and a blind eye for others.
But now I hope Ramsey saw enough and we get our act together. WE NEED OUR TALENTED PLAYERS PLAYING EVERY MINUTE.

Really surprised at this thread as I thought Zamora was one of the most effective players for us, definitely got the better of Stones .
Lost count of the amount of times he nodded the ball down for a Rangers player and I don't think Austin won a header all afternoon, surprised so many want him dropped now! [Post edited 23 Mar 2015 9:43]

other than his goal at wembley, which i thank him for from the bottom of my heart, he has been a signing which has cost us millions in wages and transfer fee for stunning mediocrity
i believe he has been more than rewarded in terms of fiscal funds in ratio to sporadic apperances /fitness levels /and goal return .
i read on here that wor bobby should be given credit for being in the right place for his chance yesterday...hes a striker..

I think he's been a huge player for QPR and Austin this year.
I like the way he pins the centre halves time and time again creating space for Austin or other players. The games against Arsenal and Spurs where he pins or occupies the defenders before laying it off as proof of this.
Or Sunderland away when it's his run that creates the space for Fer to exploit behind him for a free header - he's occupying two defenders and takes them both with him.
Even yesterday he had the beating of Stones, admittedly he was wasteful with chances but so was Austin against Spurs.
Zamora has his limitations but you can bet your life his team-mates value him far higher than the fans. | | | |

I got grief on here last time for losing it with our persitence in playing Austin and Zamora upfront, the same percentage long balls playing perfectly into the hands (or onto the head in this case) of slow older, aerially dominant centre backs. People talking about how it worked for a small run of home games pre xmas, etc.
Well it's bollocks, and I was lucky enough to have been given a ticket for Sunday, but I would have been livid if I had once again paid good money for it. A load of shite that should have been changed as soon as other options became available.
Vargas, Taarabt, Phillips should be the 3 behind Austin, all able to travel with the ball, beat a man, pick a pass and all interchangeable positionally. I am not saying it would have meant staying up, and I realise they have not all been fit and available all season, but there's no excuses now. No more Bobby, please. |  |

Sorry mate but I completely disagree, you can't say the role Zamora plays could be done by "a lump in the lower league", that's laughable to even suggest that.
It's an ugly way of playing, but they're aren't many better in the PL at doing it than Zamora.
Two managers have been at the helm this year, two managers that watch the players in training every day and know far more than you or I and BOTH of them have chosen Zamora and this gameplan.
What does that tell you about our squad and the players in it? If you don't have the players there's not a lot you can do.
I agree that I'd love to see us go at sides with all our flair players but Taarabt's been injured for a lot of the year and Vargas has been carrying niggles.
I like him but still wouldn't have him as a forward or a winger, if we played a 4-2-3-1 then I'd have him in all day long but we'd expose the fullbacks far too much. | | | |
