Wilfried Bony's reaction after scoring the Swans third goal yesterday evening was one I believe of defiance against some press reports that surfaced this week following the sacking of Michael Laudrup.
Bony's Message To Swans Fans? on 11:15 - Feb 9 by Spratty
I agree. Conversely the OP and a whole related article is based on the assumption that:
Bony running towards the supporters and shouting "Here" whilst pointing to the ground suggests: "that the reports started on the rag pages of Sports Direct were completely untrue and that he wanted to stay at the Liberty."
When as pointed out by another poster (and I can confirm) the is merely a goal celebration that we have previously (and repeatedly) seen from Bony. If it had special significance yesterday who knows but to read into it the above and create a special thread and article based on the interpretation that a players normal goal celebration is now interpreted as a complete denial of press speculation strikes me a little as spin.
As does the number of new posters who suddenly appeared at the time of the sacking pretty strongly promoting the party line.
Here you can see Bony using the same goal celebration for both Birmingham goals
It's just great to see him playing and happy. What a striker to have. His potential doesn't bear thinking about, I think he's going to get even better as the season wears on
Each time I go to Bedd - au........................

Did you miss the question mark?
Spin? It's comical, at which point have people completely forgotten that this is a fans website which gives the view of the fans?
If you want to place your own articles on the subject then the invite as ever is open.
I don't actually recall pointing out that anybody was wrong when they said they did it before but I do think it had some significance but that is not to believe I am right.
I also though do believe that just because the manager has gone that the players dont automatically want out which is what is assumed on those very rag pages.
Overly touchy? Just a tad! ML has gone and your views are clear that you didn't think he deserved it but no need to attack every comment that just asks a question...

I agree the mans a beast of a player - love him - the power of his shots wow - his potential is amazing but also great defensively and putting others through and in recent weeks since he has got up to fitness is much more mobile so even more effective.
Brilliant player

Won't it just - it was dreadful for us right up to when it finished last weekend
There are two African cups for natonal teams. "Africa Cup of Nations" (odd years) and "African Nations Championship" (even years).
The one that finished last week is African Nations Championship. It's only elligible for players currently competing in a league in their home country. Expats are not allowed.

That explains it perfectly, now we need to work on Bony for international retirement after the World Cup..!

I liked the fact that a few of the lads seemed to have shaved, etc - such as Bonk - almost showing a more respectful response to Monk.....or am I reading too much into it (sometimes this culture of footballers covered in beards & ink I think I'm watching a Mad Max film)

So as expected by myself and a few other and challenged by more, that Bony was not indeed a Laudrup signing.
Even if the rumour stemming from someneone's mate who "had him" in a cab is true: Can players not become unhappy about a manger if the manager thought they were a good buy? I have a hard time understanding your line of reasoning here.
Another thing, who actually wanted Bony then? Given Jenkins's statement that we would never again spend that kind of money on a single player how likely is it that it was a deal the board was completely happy about at the final price? Can one realistically expect being able to compete against the very best when unwilling to spend two-figured on players when playing in the PL?

A bit too much is being made of the "will never pay that much again" stuff. Time and time again this board have backed the managers they appoint with record transfer fees, and I don't doubt for a millisecond that if Monk (or whoever) really fancies a player and the club can afford it then they will make every effort to do so.
As for whether or not Bony was a Laudrup signing, I don't think that he would have been his first choice (that would have been Aspas IMO -which kinda says it all about ML and strikers), but he'd have been perfectly happy with Wilf instead, even if he didn't really know how to use him properly.
Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

I'm still in awe of his header. What a striker we have on our hands. Unplayable for even the best defenders. I can't wait to see him play in the World Cup, though if he smashes allcomers there we will probably be made an offer we can't refuse
Fulham's surprising point yesterday at Old Trafford emphasises we cannot take anything for granted until the end of the season.
Swansea's fate is in their own hands and starting Wednesday it's a continuing battle for survival. Saturday was marvellous and let's enjoy it a while longer, but then let's look to improve and get more wins . Bony is still not being properly served and as a result he is drifting too deep and is not where he should be when the opportunity arises eg Dyer's cross low across the 10 yard box yesterday in the 1st half. Having said that, his movement for his goal was exquisite.
I'm a Bony fan. If ever I doubted his abilities, I would re-watch this:

Good Post.
Some tough away games ahead, also two legs against Napoli. I was guilty of letting myself get carried away after the Fulham result, nowhere near safe yet, Wednesday is another massive game against a team who are down there with us.

My point i was making had nothing to do with some fella in a cab eavesdropping or Bony not liking Laudrup. My post in this thread goes back months, well the point does.Bony was signed when we were at loggerheads with ML and his agent. My belief is Laudrup wanted a big name signing but without the input of his unstable agent who we'd done away with.Huw obliged and done his own homework and decided to take a punt on Bony.
I'm pretty sure it was run past Laudrup eventually just like N'Gog and Emnes were but I firmly believe that Bony was a Huw Jenkins signing.
