Saints took on the Gunners across the floor of Parliament today as Southampton fan Rishi Sunak took on Arsenal supporting Sir Keir Starmer in a battle of football banter, but who ran out the winner'
Saints kicked off with Southampton born Sunak labelling Labour leader Starmer a Thatcherite Fanboy for his recent comments praising former Tory Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.
However resorting to long ball tactics Sir Keir smashed the ball upfield saying:
"The prime minister has begun to feel sorry for himself.
"He has even been heard comparing his plight to his beloved Southampton Football Club.
"I do think that is a bit harsh because Saints have been on an 11-game unbeaten run, while, as the song has it, the prime minister gets battered everywhere he goes."
But local team supporting Sunak berated South of the River Thames Southwark born and therefore natural Millwall fan rather than Arsenal, Starmer with a last minute winner.
Hitting back at Sir Keir's questions over his Rwanda policy, Sunak popped up at the far post to tell Parliament:
"He has labelled it as immoral and yet his football team's kit (Arsenal) has a 'Visit Rwanda' badge on the side of it." to much guffawing from the Tory benches.
A rare Saints win over the Gunners on this occasion but will our man be hearing the taunts of "your not singing any more" ringing around Parliament in the next year or so ?
