Dan Adshead Returns As Window Slams Shut Thursday, 1st Jan 1970 01:00 by Chaff It took a while to get going but Dale's transfer deadline day took a surprising twist when a former Dale midfielder reappeared on loan. Dan Adshead, who came through the youth ranks at Dale under previous boss Keith Hill has returned to the Crown Oil Arena. With Dale screaming out for another midfielder, especially with the speculation about Ethan Brierley, it was looking like we weren't going to get a replacement should he finally get a deal done but a last minute deal was able to be done to bring back the 21-year-old on loan from Cheltenham Town. The midfielder made his debut in the EFL Trophy, back when we used it to bring youngsters through, aged just 16. He went on to make 25 appearances for Dale, mostly in the EFL Trophy before securing a big money move to Norwich City in 2019. From Norwich he had a loan spell at Gillingham making 19 appearances in League One last season. He left Carrow Road back in June last year and signed for League One Cheltenham Town for an undisclosed fee. This season he's played 15 times in all competitions but mainly sub appearances in the league. Welcome back Dan!
