Ward Prowse And Ings Get England Call Up Tuesday, 25th Aug 2020 15:06 James Ward Prowse & Danny Ings have seen their great displays for Saints rewarded by a call up to the England squad for the upcoming Nations League games against Iceland and Denmark. Great new for Southampton Football Club as Danny Ings and James Ward Prowse were called up by Gareth Southgate for his first England squad of the season, proving that you do not need to play for a so called big club to get recognition. Danny Ings has one cap for England with James Ward Prowse ahead of him on two. On 1 October 2015, Ings received his first international call-up to the full England national team from manager Roy Hodgson, for the final UEFA Euro 2016 qualifying matches against Estonia and Lithuania. He made his debut in the latter match on 12 October, replacing Harry Kane after 59 minutes of an eventual 3—0 win in Vilnius. On 16 March 2017, he earned his first call-up to the senior England squad for a friendly against Germany and a World Cup qualifying match against Lithuania. Six days later, he made his senior debut along with teammate Nathan Redmond in a 1—0 away loss to Germany, replacing West Bromwich Albion's Jake Livermore after 82 minutes. In March 2019, Ward-Prowse was recalled to the senior national team for England's first two matches of UEFA Euro 2020 qualifying. He was brought on after 82 minutes in England's 5—1 away win over Montenegro on 25 March. This was Ward-Prowse's first competitive appearance for England. Gareth Southgate has also kept faith with Harry McGuire despite his incidents in Greece last week. England face their Euro 2016 conquerors Iceland in Reykjavik on 5 September before playing Denmark in Copenhagen three days later. The disruption caused to the football calendar by coronavirus, including Euro 2020 being delayed by a year until 2021, means England have not played since November 2019, when a 4-0 win in Kosovo concluded their Euro 2020 qualification campaign.
