Hull referee Carl Boyeson will be the man in the middle for Dale’s League One fixture against Shrewsbury Town on Saturday.

Having joined the league list in 2002, this will be Mr Boyeson’s 28th game involving Dale, with the most recent coming in August when he was at the Crown Oil Arena for our 0-0 draw with Blackpool.

His most incident-packed Dale appointment came at the home of Chalky’s mob, Notts County, in January 2005.

The match finished 0-0 and was a fairly timid affair, but Boyeson sent-off Dale’s Gareth Griffiths and Ernie Cooksey as we finished the afternoon with only nine men.

Cooksey’s red card was later rescinded, meaning he was free to take part in the FA Cup tie at Charlton five days later.

Back in our 2013/14 promotion season, Carl refereed two Dale games and proved a lucky charm as they produced six points.

Early in the campaign he was in charge of the 1-0 home defeat of bury (a game in which Dale had Peter Vincenti sent-off) and in late-March he was the man in the middle as we won 2-0 at Wycombe.
