Saints Linked With Danny Ings But He Remains Loyal To Burnley Tuesday, 30th Dec 2014 12:48 Saints are being linked with Southampton born Burnley frontman Danny Ings, but he appears to be a rare breed in today's game, a man with morals.
Rumour in the football world is that with Danny Ings out of contract in the summer, Burnley would accept a bid of around £7.5 million for his services, there appears to be no shortage of takers with Saints being joined by Everton, Aston Villa and Leicester in the queue it is refreshing to hear that the player himself appears to put loyalty to Burnley before a move.
"I'm contracted until the end of the season and that's the way it's going to be," he said.
"I will fight for the team as much as I can and do my best for them. If an offer comes in, I won't be looking at it."
Fair play to Ings who is showing a loyalty that is rare in today's game and although it has to be said that he can do so knowing there will be no shortage of offers from the Premier league in the summer for his services, the fact still remains that it would be easy for him to have taken the money and walked out of a relegation dogfight and into something a lot more profitable.
Burnley themselves are taking a gamble in that if they go down with Ings staying then they will have missed out on a big pay day, however if he keeps them up then the money they will have lost by selling now and badly damaging their survival hopes will be paled into insignificance.

Allways thought Ings could be one of our classic signings!... Shouldn't have got rid in the first place .

Could be that Burnley will sell him against his wishes. If he does not sign a contract so that they can get a fee for him in the summer he is not that loyal he is in fact shafting them.

Good point Mike although I cant see Burnley wanting to cash in for so low an amount given the stakes they are playing for

I agree 7.5 million is peanuts compared to staying in the division. They have given themselves a chance so I think they will keep him. Its a fair gamble considering even if relegated they will get hefty parachute payments to help them get back up again or at least stabilize the club.

He's. From netley and his family and friends are in the area so house in Hamble means another investment and a base i see his white range rover and one of his mercs around quite a bit . My daughter's cousin (was my nephew) drives him around Heard that he is going to sign for saints then another of his mates saying Newcastle another Celtic . He's also looking at opening some footy centre down here , for disabled kids like The one in Burnley . If he doesn't come here or anywhere in Jan then it's more money for him in the summer , bit of a gamble though considering how injury prone he has been the last 3 years . Imo He also promised an interview to my daughter who does some presenting on voicefm radio. So if it does happen I'll get some questions in from my fellow uglies

Just goes to show what 7.5m means these days! I imagine that Ings' agent has told him to hold out for more money and Burnely don’t want to make a big offer on wages in case they don’t stay up. If they do they may well be in the best position to offer him a new deal. We have a similar position with Cork in a way. It just makes sense for the agent to hold off agreeing a deal and equal sense for the club not to over commit. Come the summer we could have another couple of players coming in (for free for example) and Cork may not feature much so offering top whack would be a mistake. I am a fan of Jacks but I would put Vic, Morgan and Davis ahead of him

Ings? I don't think he's champions league material therefore not good enough for us......

My interpretation of the FIFA rules is that Burnley, and indeed Bournemouth, will be due a training compensation fee for Ings at the end of the season even though he is out of contract due to his age (under 24) It won't be mega money but pretty decent if he has shown to be an effective scoring PL forward perhaps on the fringes of the England squad. So Burnley are taking a lesser financial gamble than it may appear at first. Ultimately, the amount would be set by arbitration if the "purchasing" club doesn't come to some amicable agreement of a fee with Burnley & Bournemouth. Wouldn't surprise me that this has already been agreed behind the scenes, and hopefully it is with Saints as I think Ings looks like a natural successor to Pelle for me.

Blogs 31 bloggersKnees-up Mother Brown #19 by wessex_exile February, and the U’s enter the most pivotal month of the season. Six games in just four weeks, with four of them against sides also in the bottom six. By March we should be either well clear of danger, or even deeper in the sh*t. With Danny Cowley’s U’s still unbeaten, and looking stronger game on game, I’m sure it’ll be the former, but first we have to do our bit to consign Steve ‘Sour Grapes’ Cotterill’s FGR back to non-league. After our shambolic 5-0 defeat at New Lawn, nothing would give me greater pleasure, even if it meant losing one of my closest awaydays in the process. What’s the excuse going to be today Steve – shocking pitch, faking head injuries, Mexican banditry or some other bit of sour-grapery bullsh*t? Rochdale Polls |
