Monk Thinks Trundle Has Done Enough Wednesday, 30th Dec 2009 08:30 Garry Monk believes that Lee Trundle has done enough to earn a Liberty extension The Swansea City captain has watched the on loan striker score five goals in his loan spell from Bristol City with Trundle himself having made no secret of his desire to stay. But having now seen the last of the matches of the original loan spell end on Monday, it is now down to the two clubs to make an agreement as to what happens next. Monk though is in no doubt as to what should happen “Everyone knows Trunds is a legend at this club – but he’s had to start with a clean slate,” said Monk in today's Western Mail “He’s come here on loan and made no bones about the fact he wants to stay – and I think he’s done everything asked of him. “He’s got five goals and you can’t knock that, especially when most of his appearances have come off the subs bench. “But I think just as important is the work he’s put in since he’s come back. He’s fitting straight into what we’re trying to do as a squad and he’s definitely got that hunger to do well. “He’s slimmed down a lot and he’s probably the fittest I’ve ever seen him – you can see he really wants it and, if it does get agreed for him to stay on, then it’s deserved. “He really has got his head down since he’s been here “He certainly hasn’t moaned because he’s perhaps not started as many games as he would like, he’s just waited for his chances and taken them. “I’m sure now, if he knows his situation about his future, we’ll see the best of him with that confidence back, while still having that hunger to make sure he stays for even longer.” Photo: Action Images Please report offensive, libellous or inappropriate posts by using the links provided.
