May started well for the Swans with new manager Kenny Jackett recording his first victory on the 1st day of the month as the Swans won at Darlington. His plans received a further boost just a few days later as Brad Maylett committed his immediate future to the club by signing a two year deal. He showed his intentions then by releasing Karl Connolly and stating that Richard Jones could return to Southampton.
On the final day of the season, Andy Robinson received his JackArmy.net player of the year award ahead of the 0-0 draw against already relegated York. We only guessed it at the time but that game turned out to be the end of a remarkable Swanses story as Roger Freestone was released from the playing staff just a few days later. Also leaving through the exit door were Michael Howard, Jonathan Coates, Stuart Roberts and Kevin Nugent although it wasn't to be the last that we would hear of him before the summer was out.
Juventus were invited to open White Rock Stadium as we brought fans their first glimpse inside the new ground that was now less than twelve months away whilst Kenny Jackett made his first signing of the summer by bringing in Gary Fisken. Kevin Nugent was also back at the club in a coaching role whilst interest was declared in both Kevin Austin and Karl Reddy.
Over at White Rock as well as bringing you the view from inside the stadium, the outside was coming on leap and bounds as this picture from 30th May shows.
June can be one of the quietest months at a football club but there was no summer break for Kenny Jackett as he began to shape his squad for the coming season.
In came Adrian Forbes and Garry Monk within the first week of the month but there was to be no return for Neil Cutler who demanded more money at the last minute and went to join Stockport instead. Swansea moved up a division as Coca-Cola announced their sponsorship of the league with a revamp on division names and Division Three became League Two.
Sam Ricketts was next to join the playing staff and he was soon joined by Kevin Austin whilst Terrell Forbes arrived on trial from Jackett's old club QPR. Northampton manager Colin Calderwood suggested that he had been offered Lee Trundle during the close season, a claim denied by staff inside the Vetch as yet more stories evolved that our leading scorer would be on his way as one of 'Flynn's men'
Appropriately, the league fixture list threw us up against Northampton on the opening day whilst Shrewsbury were confirmed as the last ever league opponents at the Vetch.
As pre-season training started, Dennis Oli and Duane Courtney arrived on trial whilst Martyn Margetson became a target for the Swans after the Welsh international stalled on a new deal at Ninian Park.

July and pre-season training and fixtures. But before the matches started there was more movement on the goalkeeper front. Margetson elected to stay at Cardiff after they borrowed more money to pay him and Frenchman Willy Gueret arrived at the Vetch on trial whilst Greece sprung the surprise of the year by winning Euro 2004.
Former defender Neil Sharp was returning to the Vetch and then he wasn't as Huw Jenkins was keen but it appeared that Kenny Jackett wasn't. But Jackett was handed an immediate return to his former club as the Swans drew QPR in the Carling Cup.
While people called for an experienced Number 2, Kevin Nugent was promoted up the ranks to Jackett's assistant, just two months after being told he had no future at the club. Mark Ovendale was another vying for a place as new keeper at the Vetch as it appeared to be a straight fight between him and Gueret for the position.
The fixtures started with Dennis Oli on target twice as the Swans won 3-1 at Worcester whilst James Thomas was on target in a 2-0 win over Barry at Jenner Park.
Re/Max were confirmed as the club's new sponsors ahead of the pre-season photo shoot on the same day as the council decided that they were dropping the name of White Rock as they stepped up their bid to find a sponsor for the new stadium. The dropping of the name promoted calls of madness and petitions to keep it especially after the erecting of the signposts proudly detailing the name 'White Rock Stadium'
A 0-0 draw at Hereford preceded a draw with FC Den Haag and a 4-1 win over Noordwijk - a game in which Mark Pricthard grabbed a hat-trick. Dennis Oli and Willy Gueret were both awarded contracts for the club but there was bad news with injuries for Adrian Forbes, Lee Trundle, Kris O'Leary and Izzy Iriekpen.
The roof surrounded three quarters of White Rock Stadium as we showed you on 25th July.
Andy Robinson's goal was not enough to ensure an unbeaten pre-season as the Swans went down 2-1 in their last game of the Dutch tour against Haarlem and there was worse to follow as the opening day saw a home league defeat as Northampton triumphed 2-1 at the Vetch.
Kenny Jackett then dropped captain Roberto Martinez for the 2-0 win at Rochdale but was heavily criticised for that decision as the Swans lost their next game at Macclesfield. Lee Trundle's goal on return from injury secured a home point against Cheltenham but there were endless calls for Jackett's head as his side crashed out of the Carling Cup, 3-0 at QPR, with 'hoofball' the word on the lips of many at that point.
It was enough to see the captain re-instated to the side and the month ended with back to back victories over Cambridge and Lincoln which relieved the pressure on the manager and changed the shape of things to come.
The LDV draw saw League One leaders Luton handed a trip to the Vetch Field and the month ended on a more positive note than on which it began.
There was more reasons to be positive by taking a look at the new stadium as we did on 25th August.
