Doncaster Striker Sharp Available at Cut Price? Friday, 30th Dec 2011 13:43 by TWTD.co.uk Doncaster Rovers striker Billy Sharp’s release clause is £1.85 million and not the £3 million claimed by the South Yorkshire club’s chairman John Ryan, according to reports. Town manager Paul Jewell recently ruled the Blues out of the running for the 25-year-old’s signature if he was going to cost £3 million. If Sharp, for whom Town made an unsuccessful bid of £2.3 million in the summer, is available at the lower figure, then the Blues could well renew their interest. However, with Premier League Fulham and Wigan and several Championship clubs including Leicester and Southampton — who had a bid of £3.25 million accepted in the summer when Sharp decided to remain with Rovers — also understood to be ready to make a move, Town would probably be outsiders for the former Sheffield United man’s signature. Elsewhere, ex-Blues loanee Marlon Harewood has rejoined Nottingham Forest on a four-month contract and could make his second debut for the Tricky Trees at Portman Road on Monday. Former Town defender Ian Miller has joined Grimsby on a 16-month deal having recently left administration-threatened Darlington.
