Stockport on Tuesday Monday, 21st Jul 2008 16:30 Dale will entertain Stockport County on Tuesday evening, as we play the first pre-season game to take place at Spotland. Kick off is at 7:30pm and not the traditional 7:45pm like most midweek games are. What better way of kicking off the Spotland campaign than a game against the side who ensured that we're playing League Two football rather than League One during 2008-9.
It's been a controversial choice of fixture in certain quarters, but not half as controversial as it could have been had David Perkins been playing for Stockport.
But the point behind the game is helping Dale reach match fitness in time for the Grimsby game, and it will certainly do that perhaps better than any other similar fixture would do, as there's bound to be a bit more pride riding on the result than your ordinary friendly would have.
It would appear that based on Saturday's game at Rossendale, Keith Hill is keen for the players to get a 90 minutes under their belt, and allowing for injuries that we may not know about, it's likely that the likes of Gary Jones, Nathan Stanton, and Chris Dagnall will get a run out.
Admission prices for the game sees all seats in the ground costing £12, whilst entry to the terracing will cost £10. Concessions can get in for £6 and £5 respectively.
