Dull season
at 19:11 30 May 2015

So as one of the most one-sided Cup Finals ever seen brings down the curtain on the domestic season, I think it's fair to say that this has been one of the most uninspiring campaigns in living memory.
The Premier League was won with over a month to spare, with only the third relegation place to be decided on the last day and even that was never really in doubt.
Championship play-off places were still up for grabs, but automatic promotion and, of course, relegation issues were resolved long before the curtain came down.
Can't even remember who won the League, Milk, or Carling Cup, nor bring to mind who was relegated from the Football League with Tranmere!!!
UK failure in the Champions and Europa Leagues well before they became interesting made a mockery of the supposed strongest league in the world.
I suppose Cowdenbeath losing to a Chopra-inspired Alloa, coupled with a Livingston win to send the Blue Brazil down on the final day was about as exciting as it got.
The gulf between the haves and have-nots is widening, we've reached saturation point as far as televised football is concerned and opportunities for home-grown talent to develop and make an impact are further away than ever.
So much for investing in grass roots!!
We can't even have a go at our neighbours for their previously dire play-off record; they have finally visited the now not-so-new Wembley and will likely be laughing at our expense for years to come.
The only saving grace might be that the sport has become so dull, corrupt and devoid of characters that it will be easier to walk away

Expectations for next season
at 13:05 24 May 2015

I would like some investment and stability, on and off the field, the foundations of a settled squad, capable of achieving promotion.
I EXPECT nothing better than this season and us to be favourites for relegation from the Football League in 2017

Will PNE win on Sunday - a Head not Heart Poll!
at 12:59 24 May 2015

As Mr. Brightside says, its about peaks and troughs. Wasn't it only 5 years ago that, not for the first time, we went up and they down?
Think they will win, but hope they fail again, even though I wouldn't fancy playing them next season.
Can see them staying up, but getting rid of Grayson when he can take them no further.
I believe we'll only have to suffer them twice more, as we are destined for extinction, but can take comfort in the knowledge that we hit the heights, if only for one season and they have a mountain to climb if they want to emulate our achievements
How anyone can bring themselves to watch that this afternoon baffles me, but each to their own.

Your one abiding memory from last season?

Weekends feeling anxious before, then angry, frustrated, bewildered, embarrassed, anti social, disillusioned, despondent and miserable after the event

Retained List
at 11:33 19 May 2015

Wonder who's making the decision regarding retention?
Davies, Cywka, Fonz, Nosworthy, Clarke, Rentmeister, Mellis and O'Dea might have at least helped keep us in League 1.
OK, so we want to get back up, but do we really believe we'll bring in players of the calibre to succeed on the wages we offer, without a backroom staff, or facilities in place to facilitate?
The saddest thing for me is that I feel little emotion, now, for what's about to be played out.

Bournemouth Season Tckets

How many on here would pay this amount if it were us in the Prem?

Its around double what we're being asked to pay to watch a mangerless, playerless, training groundless, outfit being destroyed in a ruthless, mindless manner.

Give us some names .. Who would you like as manager?
at 11:12 19 May 2015

I agree with Harry.
Years ago, whatever the reasons, I would have followed events relating to a managerial change keenly, but now, its a case of deja, deja, deja vu.
The end, I fear, is nigh and we'll soon be put out of our misery.
Only hope those who have engineered this mess are satisfied.
Hang your heads in shame

Does Gerrard deserve all this media coverage?

Fortunate that his position within the footballing community spared him a custodial sentence.
On the field, exceptional club man who failed to deliver on the international stage.

I've heard the Rugby League is questioning whether the pitch is of an acceptable standard.

Charles Dunne heads back to Wycombe ...
at 11:20 16 May 2015

Agree with Wronga.
Dunne isn't the finished article, but there are signs he could play an integral part in our recovery, if there is to be one.
I'd rather have a permanent left back in place, albeit one who needs a guiding hand with his development, than scrat around for loan deals all season, as has previously been the case.
There are so many more important issues at the moment than debating the worth of one of the few left on the books

congrats to Guisley and Boreham Wood

Soft spot for Boreham Wood since we stayed there for THAT weekend in May 2010.
Have a feeling we could be visiting again in a couple of years!!!

Add to that the number of ex-Seasiders plying their trade at Sheff. Utd (playoffs) and Shrewsbury (promoted).
There is no excuse and, whilst I agree with the sentiment that any of our former players contribute to another nobber failure (cheers Foxy and even Jacob Murphy, by the way), its just another example of our downfall being engineered.

Anyone think/hope that Lee Clark will walk?
at 15:00 4 May 2015

Think its only a matter of time.
Anyone with the slightest amount of integrity would, at least, offer their resignation.
I imagine, once it appears there's little likelihood of things changing for the better and promises remain unfulfilled as pre-season approaches, Lee Clark's hand will be forced

I believe we've retained our option on Andrea for next season.
Leaving him out of the squad might have been to protect our "assets", as the fixture was as irrelevant as others since we were relegated, but I would suggest its more likely that he wasn't risked as a consequence of a bid from a Championship club.
We've not been bled dry yet

All things must pass
at 12:09 24 Apr 2015

Seems poignant that our final away fixture in the Championship will be at the home of the team against whom we said goodbye to the second tier the last time we departed this division.

Was it worth it?
Have we made "Progress" as befits our motto?
What must happen before we return?
Will there be another "trip"?
Is there anybody out there, or on here, who really cares?
Have we gone too far for this disastrous situation to be resolved without casualties?

I applaud those who make the long, futile journey tomorrow.
I also understand the sentiments of those in the NAPM brigade; we have a choice, after all.
Whilst we as fans are the real victims in all of this, we should unite in support of our club, whether at the ground or from afar.
I empathise with the pain, suffering, frustration and anger at how we've been treated and the manner in which Blackpool Football has been allowed to fall from grace in such a relatively short period of time, but we are becoming divided and fighting amongst ourselves will only serve to undermine our cause.

I await the outcome of mediation, Season Ticket announcement, litigation, investigation, Chairman's assessment of his performance in response to the May judgement he requested (assuming the self-imposed media ban is removed) and revelation of plans for rebuilding on and off the field, before committing myself to another year.
Getting too old to enjoy the masochism of braving the Fylde elements to watch my club die, so its likely Huddersfield will be my last visit.
I cannot see the aforementioned assurances being given, nor, indeed, realised.

Reality check
at 21:20 22 Apr 2015

I was invited to the Bury v Southend game last night by a friend on the Shakers' coaching staff.
The Bury Chairman had granted free admission for ALL, following the abandonment of the earlier fixture, owing to a waterlogged pitch.
The gesture effectively doubled the typical midweek attendance and I'm sure franchises inside the ground benefited accordingly.
I was impressed by the respect and patience displayed to all present by stewards, security staff, locals and club officials welcomed "day trippers" and guests.
I was able, as a neutral, to enjoy the game, observe the reaction of fans and assess the standard of football at the top end of League 2.
We should be afraid, very afraid.
Both teams looked fitter than us, better-drilled and more committed to their respective cause.
They kept their shape, played to their strengths, did the simple things effectively (supporting the man with the ball, tracking back when possession was lost) and I was impressed with the manner in which players read the game, appeared to have an assured first touch and were confident on the ball.
All in all I enjoyed the evening's entertainment, could empathise with the majority of home supporters as the game wore on, but left with a nagging worry that, were we to find ourselves in League 1 next season facing such opposition, or, worse still, in League 2, playing teams suitably backed by a Board, ambitious in football-related matters, we could not hope to compete and are most likely destined for several years of further misery.
So much for "PROGRESS", eh?

Anyone else going to Neil Diamond at BR?
at 10:00 4 Apr 2015

'Pool on the rocks, ain't no surprise
My club's dying before my eyes
Do nothing but lose, so I've gotta choose
Not to go

Fallen so far in such a short time
A shambles now, that's why I'm
Saying my goodbyes, want no more lies
Feel so low

First we had a chance of glory
Greed took over, the same old story
Building castles in the air
Broken promises, not fair

Now were failing with distinction
Facing imminent extinction
Laughing stock, all tears are cried
Hope those to blame are satisfied

We all know what's wrong

O/T First film you remember seeing at the cinema
at 09:28 4 Apr 2015

Went with my Nanna to see Run Wild Run Free, "starring" Mark Lester as a lonely young mute lad who spends time with a wild horse. Rubbish, but the first film of the double bill was much more enjoyable; "First Men in The Moon" with Lionel Jeffries, a loose screen version of the Wells novel.
Really enjoyed that

Doesn't look like we'll be going down this weekend ....
at 21:08 3 Apr 2015

I don't think anyone can be merry at the way our club has been drained of its lifeblood, our fans have been treated with disdain and the image of Blackpool FC has been dragged through the mire as we stumble from one crisis to another.
I am and always will be, a supporter of this club and this club alone, whichever league we find ourselves in, but I cannot hide the hurt, the anger, the frustration, the bewilderment at our plight.
I will never, NEVER, be ashamed or embarrassed to swear my allegiance to the Seasiders, nor could I ever, when times were (are) hard, jump on the bandwagon and choose to follow a fashionable, top flight club, as many contributors to our forums appear to do, treating their interest in Blackpool as something as a passing fancy.
I do not welcome our imminent demotion and, despite the politics, still want us to win every time we play, but the manner in which off-field activities, litigation, in-fighting, disingenuousness, power-struggles, megalomania, expediency and an overall lack of decency have, it seems, engineered our downfall, breaks my heart.
Shame on those responsible
