Perhaps. Flip side to that is a coach is judged on his league position .
Mark Robins is a prime example of that . Thatā€™s how coaches live and die so I can understand if MC approached it differently to the fan base .
I hope you are right but would understand it if he rested a couple.

Yep would agree in principle mate .

But if he rests a couple I would understand I guess is what Iā€™m saying whilst being slightly frustrated that we might not totally go for Leicester, who will surely rest players themselves.

I can see the data guys requesting to manage the minutes of someone like Frey for example.
As someone else mentioned , what is a ā€˜weakened teamā€™ anyway. Colback needs minutes so is likely to start / play an hour and only 6 weeks ago we were screaming for his return . I have no insight at all but someone like Field must be getting into red zones etc so do we play him again in a cup competition we have a slim to no chance of winning or do we rest him so we donā€™t risk him him being available for the rest of the season?
I can see that argument whilst not fully agreeing .

The positive side is we have recently manufactured a situation where we are not deep in the proverbial so thatā€™s where I agree with you that we can go strong at Leicester .
Unfortunately for people like me (of a certain age ) the priority of all football clubs is league football unless you miraculously find yourself in the later rounds.
Thatā€™s something I think Iā€™ve now just accepted as sad as that is .

Cifuentes can win. He can play his strongest available team.

In your eyes and many others Brian , yes.
But many donā€™t see it like that in equally ,letā€™s say , slightly grumpy terms , and thatā€™s the point of my post.
Same every year . Both sides of the argument .

Unfortunately we are once again in a position where we are not completely safe from being sucked back into that dogfight at the bottom and some people including the club I would imagine would rather be sure of Championship football next year than some notion of us winning the FA Cup which are such long odds . Pick up a suspension on Saturday and a bad injury or 2 (see Mackie and Faurlin for previous FA cup 3rd round career threateners ) to important players and MC will be lynched for risking them. All hypothetical of course but itā€™s an understandable fear ā€¦.to some .

Not my opinion , before I start getting pelters but a bigger picture view I can understand without fully agreeing with .

Yes , and as I mentioned elsewhere I wouldnā€™t mind betting the 4th official Gavin Ward added to that fiasco

As sure as night follows day , the annual split down the middle of the ā€˜play our best team or whatā€™s the point ā€˜ versus ā€˜rest the players who need it as the league is more important ā€˜ war of words has started.

Agree with points made on both sides but one thing fans forget is we canā€™t see the data that the management can see on certain players . I tend to think that for this reason Dunne , Smyth , Field and Nardi might be rested / benched just to ease their load as I can imagine some of the same voices shouting loudest on here if Jimmy gets injured for 6-8 weeks with a ā€˜muscleā€™ injury.
Some of you may not like that but thatā€™s how it is these days .
That said, i think we should go have a go at Leicester with a strong side with no fear and a free hit with a big following getting right behind them .

Marti canā€™t win whatever he decides ā€¦..unless we miraculously win an FA cup match of course .

I was inclined to think that perhaps Gavin Ward found the electronic board all a bit too much last night . I feel like itā€™s something heā€™d balls up

Great stuff Clive . Bit of a bonkers night all round .
Love the fact that Fox scored because he couldnā€™t even get out of the way of a shanked miss hit shot going miles wide šŸ¤£. What a club this is !

Quick word on the ref .
Thought he was ok for an hour and as the game ramped up and got more frantic it became all too much for him .
Finding that thatā€™s quite common in the championship. Not sure why but a good explanation is fatigue maybe ? Last 20 minutes was bedlam last night so itā€™s understandable to a degree.
Both teams desperate for the win which made for an exciting match .

Hugely enjoyable and huge 3 points .

I like how we are now mixing it with the most physical sides in the division and coming out on top .
But not just doing the hard yards , starting to play some lovely football in patches .
Morgan of course very influential in that and he could be a hell of a player . But heā€™s making players around him better too.
Not one of Chairā€™s better games but what a shift he put in which epitomises how this lot are now battling and fighting for each other. Paal looks a lot happier with Chair in front of him too.
And what a cameo by Alfie Lloyd. Yes, he should have scored but he caused carnage in their back 4 . A real handful .

Desire, summed up by Colback after Lloyd hit the post .
After Alfie got up Colback ran over too him and shouted ā€œAlfie ā€¦f*cking score!ā€, through gritted teeth.
It was a great moment as it was encouragement rather than a moan but reminding him that thatā€™s part of his job too.

Long way to go and lots to improve on but we have to be happy with the last 6 weeks . Been an incredible turn around .

Your best and worst ever QPR moment witnessed as a fan and as an armchair fan !!
at 19:55 5 Jan 2025

Some great posts on this thread .

Sinclairā€™s overhead kick being one of many live ones . The Chelsea 6-0. The Fenwick equaliser at Wembley .
On tv the 4-1 at old Trafford . The semifinal second leg at Anfield . What moments .
For reasons too long to explain I never was at nor did I see the Zamora moment or game . Long story short.

Bad ones have all been mentioned .
Maybe that cup final replay . 7 years old and heartbroken

Love the darts and the worlds has become my favourite thing about this time of year .
Littler is a revelation and a genius. And to think heā€™s literally still a kid .

I feared for his mental health after his first match against Ryan Miekle when he broke down after and couldnā€™t talk. He looked fragile and that made me worry . Yesterday he didnā€™t show that but the pressure is ramping up from the media and the snowball affect that is darts at the moment .
Had my boss telling me Thursday morning when we were back at work how arrogant he thinks Littler is and how he thinks heā€™s better than everyone else.
It shocked me but didnā€™t surprise me as this is the British public in a nutshell.
They see the worst in everybody instead of the good and that feeds the press which feeds the publics psyche and it will grow and grow and before we know it his family will be dole scroungers, woman beaters , drug users , blah blah blah . We know itā€™s coming and I hope so much that they already have the coping mechanisms in place . He needs a management team to pick and choose his media appearances wisely and not do everything thatā€™s offered .
As for him winning everything in the next 10 years and it becoming boring . It could happen, but I donā€™t think it will . He isnā€™t a machine or a robot . He looks beatable at times and Ryan Joyce , who isnā€™t in the top 25 took him close . Ryan Miekle was 2-0 up in a race to 3 . Heā€™s lost in the first round at 2 majors this year . He looks human at times and not how MVG was when he burst on the scene .
And that vulnerability is a good human trait as well when he looks a genius.

I for one think he is confident but far from arrogant . Level headed nice lad who would rather play Xbox than practice and I hope he never changes .
Well done Luke !
Incredible achievement

Great stuff Clive .

How much of a relief as that 3rd goal ? I mean the last 20 mins was nail biting enough at 3-1. 2-1 would have been purgatory

Elm Park on that concrete terracing around 97/98 ish . I think we won or drew but I canā€™t remember due to the bloody frostbite . All my mate Jim (rip) wanted to do was just keep drinking cold beer.
Since that day I struggle to drink beer at all when Iā€™m cold .

Colback is much more experienced and will be important in the weeks ahead .
But Varaneā€™s athleticism and speed around the pitch will make him more important I think .
He is still adapting of course and will have off games , but he is growing in stature bit by bit.

With the ball he needs to improve but so does Fieldā€¦and for me they have both improved ball retention. But for Varane especially, thatā€™s not his main reason for being in the team. Heā€™s an enforcer and heā€™s starting to be pretty good one .

As for ā€˜silly bookingsā€™, no one has more stupid bookings in the last 18 months than Colback . Dissent , kicking the ball away , dangerous lungesā€¦you name it really so I think we can let Varane off a couple here and there .

He looks like he is finally starting to believe in himself . A lovely cross for Field today and he terrorised Watford in that second half .

Been critical of him a lot but fair play to him because he is becoming integral to how we play .
Just hope he doesnā€™t suffer an over usage injury similar to Cook for example as he leaves everything on that pitch every week

What a day! Even the weather couldnā€™t put a dampener on it.

Thought it was very good performance by a team looking compact and very difficult to breakdown at home. We frustrated the sh*t out of Watford as we did Preston and Norwich with our work rate, pressing and desire to match them physically . Some nice football too especially down the right in the second although first 2 goals ironically came from the left .
Some impressive performances too notably from Ashby (second half especially), Fox, Field , Varane , a much improved Paal. But Dunne and Smyth were tremendous today . A month ago they were driving me made down that right hand side .
Today Smyth was electric in his favourite situation , attacking the loft second half . His work rate is becoming integral to who we are now.
And I thought Jimmy was a Colossus today. A captains performance for me .

Someone compared him to Macca a couple of weeks back which I baulked at, but today that could have been Big Mac himself out there .
Inspirational !
