Saints should be doing a Sunderland
at 11:11 17 Feb 2016

Now that the TV money has become so huge it is being said that club's could afford to let fans in for free. They are no longer reliant on gate money for income. If true it makes you wonder why spend money on a bigger stadium when you don't need more fans. As football is now all about profit which makes the most, money in the bank or money in the stadium?

What's good to do in Edinburgh?
at 11:42 16 Jan 2016

I loved Edinburgh and really enjoyed the castle. There are two or three Scottish Regimental Museums in the castle which are well worth a look. Enjoyed Princes Street and took a look at the Scottish Parliament Building. Lots of good pubs and eateries, but if you are worried about spending money it seems hardly worth the trip in the first place.

Ridiculous appraisals are being done by somebody who doesn't know how to do them, or what they are all about.

Agree quite a good footy programme. Seven Man Utd stars buy a football club and come over as six ex-footballers and one team leader and potential successful top league manager. Gary Neville head and shoulders above his ex team mates. Salford FC playing on TV over the weekend in an FA Cup match, which shows what a bit of influence can do.

Nothing changes....

From an 1816 issue of the Times of London:

The indecent foreign dance called the Waltz was introduced ... at the English Court on Friday last ... It is quite sufficient to cast one's eyes on the voluptuous intertwining of the limbs, and close compressure of the bodies ... to see that it is far indeed removed from the modest reserve which has hitherto been considered distinctive of English females...[Now that it is] forced on the respectable classes of society by the evil example of their superiors, we feel it a duty to warn every parent against exposing his daughter to so fatal a contagion.

2. "Self-Admiring, Emaciated Fribbles"

In Paris Fashion: A Cultural History, Valerie Steele published a letter sent to Town and Country magazine in November 1771 by a reader who wanted to get something off of his chest:

Whither are the manly vigor and athletic appearance of our forefathers flown? Can these be their legitimate heirs? Surely, no; a race of effeminate, self-admiring, emaciated fribbles can never have descended in a direct line from the heroes of Potiers and Agincourt...

Strange how all the Saints fans think they would win the games and all the Pompey fans think they would. Guess it depends on the colour of the lenses in your specs.
