I posted

A direct free kick is awarded to the opposing team if a player commits any
of the following seven offences in a manner considered by the referee to be
careless, reckless or using excessive force:
- kicks or attempts to kick an opponent
- trips or attempts to trip an opponent
- jumps at an opponent
- charges an opponent
- strikes or attempts to strike an opponent
- pushes an opponent
- tackles an opponen

Therefore, each of the seven in the list has to be considered careless, reckless etc...

What else can I say? You read it wrongly!

No, I didn't - read the post again or better still , read the laws!

How convenient that you partially read my post to suit your opinion. I didn't write the laws - FIFA did.

As suggested above, whether it was a dive or not makes no difference. Due to the fact that keeper came out recklessly, Rooney had to react differently. As Roy Hodgson says, he took evasive action. The laws clearly state that you do not have to make contact for it to be a foul.

I hate Man Utd as much as Cardiff, and I'm no fan of Rooney or England, but I just can't see why this is even being discussed - a clear penalty all day long!

Law 12 - Fouls & Misconduct

Fouls and misconduct are penalised as follows:
Direct free kick
A direct free kick is awarded to the opposing team if a player commits any

careless, reckless or using excessive force:
- kicks or attempts to kick an opponent
- trips or attempts to trip an opponent

Adrian Chiles sacked from ITV Sport.

Totally agree with these comments. I've always wondered why there has been such animosity towards Adrian Chiles on here. I really like listening to him, because he is one of us - a fan!

I certainly have thought it through.

I have a personal hatred of Terry Yorath, never having forgiven him for missing the penalty against Yugoslavia in 1976. He was captain and decided that he should go for glory and take a penalty when Tosh was the far better option. I will admit to be irrational but have spent years and years thinking through about his inclusion on this list.

Harry Gregg did more with a poor squad than Bentley and if you look at development of young players, he was streets ahead. John Bond was a fantastic manager, proven long before he arrived at The Vetch. The circumstances under which he had to manage us at that time, with bankruptcy on the horizon were impossible. You cannot blame any manager for that. Even Clough or Shankly or Mourinho would have struggled.

Appleton wouldn't be anywhere near my top two worst managers.

In no particular order, but all of the following were worse (as managers) IMO : -

1) Kevin Cullis
2) Terry Yorath
3) Mickey Adams
4) Nick Cusack
5) Roy Bentley
6) Les Chappell
7) Alan Cork
8) Kevin Nugent
9) Alan Curtis
10) Doug Livermore
11) Jimmy Rimmer

....and that's only the ones since I started watching The Swana in 1970

1. Harry Griffiths
2. Frankie Burrows
3. Brendan Rodgers
4. Kenny Jackett
5. Garry Monk
6. Roberto Martinez
7. John Toshack
8. Michael Laudrup
9. Brian Flynn
10. Paolo Sousa

Tosh would be a lot higher if it had really been him who managed the team, not Bill Shankly

Martinez would be just behind him in second if it wasn't for the Gillingham speech and what followed with Uncle Dave.

Sorry, I don't agree. Far better than the clown who let Southampton kick us off the park but the fact that Tiote never got a yellow card when he quite possibly should have had two in the first half alone mystifies me. How many times are you going to warn a player that he is on his last chance? Three or four is the answer based on yesterday.

Latest comment from a Reading text commentator : -

This game is following the same script as the friendly here between these two sides last season.

Swansea in complete control, looking like they will score with every attack.

Gomis has just seen a header well saved by McCarthy.

Still 2-0, as the rain hammers down.

Disagree with both points - Michu is ready and Vorm is still far superior to Tremmel
