Perhaps it didn't read properly as I intended so I added the person you were talk about to which I replied referring to.

t would be good to have other option(s) with him(Ginnelly), we shall see how he gets on, seem to have a quicker stream of balls to him with Key and Pederson on the left. Funny how out of position Key looked to get the ball forward quicker than he does in what is seen as his natural side of the pitch to play on. It will be nice to see him on the pitch if that is the case.
Sorry if it confused missing a "s" on options in the original text would not have helped

Brendan's squad was built up over time. After relagation and failure to get promotion while also avoiding further drops has been a bit ofa juggling act with all the ins and outs

He had a chance to try something different in the middle in the League Cup but to fair Williams tried different players in both Defence and attack but not the very middle of the midfield.

Franco and Allen gets Grimes further up the park when they are missing he drops back indicates we need players to play at their standard to accommodate Grimes in the team or achange from Grimes.
Do think our set up expecting the fullbacks push high too early also encourages Grimes to drop too deep, we have seen on the right Franco drops into the fullback position to cover Key meaning the centrehalf Cabango doesn't get pull out wide all the time, there is an issue on the left which needs to be resolved that is why Steve Cooper ended up playing three in the midfield to help cover the flanks and the middle but that resulted in a less potent attack.

Cabango use to score quite a few goals at set pieces before Darling arrival, think they tend to get in each others way a bit, seems as if tjing have been sorted at our defensive corners(hope I haven't cursed that area now) but the main thing with our attacking set pieces now seem to be focused on not allowing Grimes take the corners and then making sure he is not the last man at them.

We have rotated Key, Tymon, Ronald and Eom as the last men, think Ronald is a big enough unit to cause more problems in the box than on the edge would have Grimes move to the edge during the set play given he could take more advantage as the ball drops loose with his strikes while always remembering to have another two players ready in case of counter attacks.
Like to see players from the opposite side of the pitch coming across to take inswinging corners but don't want the see the amount of work needed for the fullbacks to do it, especially with the amount of work including sprint in attack and defence of which is expected of them.
New and nippy left footed winger in the xfer window would help in that department. Please.

Slow lofted corners into the six yard box for goalies and tall defenders to easily defend. We haven't got the tall players to load the box with so the loft ball to the back post is a good option if not used too often so it becomes predictable.
The low ones into the box need at least one player getting in front of the near post defender with a late run across them whipped in balls are harder to defend plenty of goals have been scored with glancing headers, balls to feet at the front post have to be a bit slow to enable our player to control them so they can lay them of back to the corner taker continuing into the box or laid off to a players late run to the edge of the box. We need to use different options

How do you feel about different players having different training routine, faster players having lighter speed training compared with slower players working on their speed.
Notice the beginning of last season Piroe seemed to have worked on his headering, a case of players needing to work on their weaknesses while augmenting their strength, one size fits all or not?

There has to be a question as to why some players are out so long after injuries, yes relapses happen and other injuries seem to happen as a player and medical team concentrates on the original injury; bad practices that lead to further issues or is it just a case of some injuries are impossible to recover from?
Bodde and Michu spring to mind.

Against QPR passing across the back was a lot quicker most noticeable was the ball went to Ronald without Key getting in the way, then as need Key was in a position to support with good movement from himself, Ronald and Franco quickly opening spaces.

One little point about moving the ball across the backs is the player receiving the ball must be aware of the players around both his own team and opposition not once as the ball is order to go from one side to the other to switch the point of attack do we look to switch it back to the side the ball original came from because as the opposition shift to the point of defense on the other side, same can quickly open up on the original flank the ball came from.
We are far to rigid in set movements.

If any of our loan players are not playing then as you say a recall is needed. Look at Nelson Abbey did he only have one appearance wasn't that against Wycombe left foot centre half being played on the right of the two.Rightly called back was only brought here as a stop gap and then wasn't used.

Josh came on in one of this seasons friendlies and an instant impact adding an assist to Rebuns assist to Grime's goal.

I do question the justification of loaning players out at times.

At what point do you start trusting these youngsters to do the job they have been developed for?
Not including Pearl-Harris in that question considering he is only on loan.
Is it a case we are pushing for Premiership football but will be totally unprepared to play in it.

We cannot rely on the likes of Grimes, Fulton , Cullen, Cooper and Allen in the midfield(even Key and Tymon if we can find players to cover their fullback roles)
Franco makes a noticeable difference so does Allen(doesn't last 90 minutes)they get the best out of Grimes, something has to change to enable the midfield to function properly in both a defensive and attacking
capacity.
If it means trying Abdulai in the midfield against Southampton instead of Grimes I wouldn't be unhappy, at least it was tried but maybe the cup games against lower opposition was the place for that to be done and there we changed the whole back four didn't we?

Think we may see him come on again for Cullen instead of out on the wings if we are behind in games.

Having said that it does seem as if when we are ahead in games we make changes for change sake, instead of seeing games out maybe feels the necessity to match opposition ones, may have a point when the opposition team ends up full of giants.

That could well be the case I'm sure he has had some stick on the touchline from our own supporters, I ended up complaining that on the touch line he tried to control an almost head high ball to bring it down instead of just flicking a headed ball onto one of our runners just ahead of him which would have meant we would have got in behind their defense.
Not the finished article and needs developing, whether he has the willingness to do it remains to be seen.

He played a simple ball forward that kept us moving to get us on the front foot, same as the goal he scored he followed up his cross with a forward thinking run into the box, lots of players lose the ball by trying to put their foot on the ball.
Every player in the team has come in for critism and rightly so but maybe some praise should be given at times, in the game in which Pearl-Harris scored he did give a full blood change in front of the East stand which was met with approval if that can be encouraged then I'm sure more of the same would be welcomed.
My point would be it is not all solely down to the player.
Ntcham started a game in a defensive midfielder role and we promptly went 1-0 down, his position was changed straight away because he was asked to play in a role he is unaccustomed to doing. I feel the same could be said of Pearl-Harris but until he plays in his preferred position I cannot be proven to be correct it is just a feeling he is a better player than we are seeing.

Won't be the first time I have gone of on a tangent and won't be the last.

I agree but he made Grimes do what Grimes should be doing time and time again, moving into a position that benefits the team, not to go back within a yard of a play to recieve a ball to then give it back to them, you talk about showboating isn't that exactly what Grimes has done it for years, the new rules for goal kick just seem to reinforced the playing out from the back at all cost and teams are getting sucked into doing it, going nowhere and inviting pressure on themselves so games swing from looking like superstars in one half to bargin basement players in the next, it would seem even Man City go sucked into the mind set of playing out from the back at went on a pretty poor run by their standards. There are other factors in Man City 's poor run like loss of players I know but at time one size does not fit all.
It is a team game and you have to build it around the players at your disposal and play to their strengths getting the best out of players William's has taken a very cautious approach in his selection and to say a number of players are not playing in their natural positions is an understatement. It is what it is but it is easy to single out individuals as I have just done with Grimes, trying to look at the future and not dismissing younger players out of hand looking for good points to build on.
Sorry for the rant but there a lot of good player out there and if they can learn from others it may help the team in the long run.

What I liked about him when playing out of a tight position in our area after receiving the ball from Grimes on the right hand side of the penalty area he didn't blast it to no-one, he didn't put Grimes in a bad situation by playing it straight back to him to his feet , instead he played the ball into space on the touch line behind the oncoming player press making Grimes, who had no intention of moving into space to recieve the ball, forcing him run forward onto the forward pass opening the whole flank for us able to progress up the park with ease, just by playing one simple easy ball and not dropping us in do do.
