It has been on my mind for good while now that in my opinion, there are many distinct differences between this forum and the Facebook page of Rochdale AFC Appreciation. Do the majority on here look at both as I do? I don't post or comment a lot on here but avidly read the posts and subsequent comments as I learn a lot about various issues going on at the club ( that I may have missed) and see different points of views on games / the footballing side. The majority of the time, people's honest and often well educated opinions on here are respected, challenged, responded to, mistakes corrected, lots of witty replies (Judd does make me laugh), good banter but mainly the respect is there. Again, IMO, the Facebook group is very much an opposite and seems to be lots of petty arguments, opinions given that are replied to as 'just wrong' and the level of intellect seems somewhat lacking. I have always believed that people's opinions are personal and although a reply does not need to agree, one should never say it is incorrect as it is just an opinion. They should simply be respected and to use an age old phrase, 'agree to disagree'. I have posted once on the Facebook group and got told I was wrong, shut up, sworn at and ridiculed so I only ever view it now, but it does sometimes make for frightening reading when I see what and how some people post. It is called Rochdale AFC Appreciation but there doesn't seem to be any appreciation at all of anything. When we win the players and managers are great, when we lose it is the total opposite. Same with the current chairman who was hailed as a hero for stepping in to save the club from MH and now is the villain. Whereas on this forum, everyone is well aware of the ups and downs of our fortune, but take a far more pragmatic viewpoint on affairs based on respect. Just my opinion!!!! |

He can't have been on too much of a wage at Southend all those times he kept going back. Also didn't he have them in Non League at one point? Barrow surely can't pay over the odds either. I was looking at the BBC article to see if Josh Lillis was going to be given a go. |

I just saw the article on BBC Sport and remembered that I had seen him. Not my intention to suggest Dale should have looked at him. |

Phil Brown has been appointed at Barrow. I did see him at Dale at the Barrow match on the 12th in the 1907 bar and in the main stand so he was obviously doing some chatting to the Barrow bigwigs at our place. |

Please can someone remind who that bloke was who took the manager's job after Ryan Lowe left for Plymouth. Think he left Truro to take over but it seemed to me at the time that it was like a new captain taking over control of the titanic halfway across the Atlantic! Wonder what happened to him? |

| Forum Thread | Baldy Mourinho at 11:58 9 Mar 2020
Following Jose Mourinho’s recent public criticism of Tanguy Ndombele at Spurs, I started to think about other reasons why the chants came out for KH calling him Baldy Mourinho. Yes he has been the most successful Rochdale Manager there has been so managerial success is a likeness to Mourinho but there are many other traits that they have in common. Arrogance Great success then great lows with sackings that follow Public criticism of players Public criticism of fans Never their fault Lone wolf scenario Do you think KH took the comparisons too literally?! |

Did anyone else here Hill on BBC Radio Manc/Bolton this morning at 0830 after last nights defeat? Quote: "I'm still enjoying the job not enduring it. I got very upset at the weekend as I lost to a team and club that I built" |

One thing that confuses me (well there's a lot of things but I won't go into that) is who made the decision to give Bolton a suspended deduction if the EFL are appealing it? Surely it should be the EFL themselves handing out the punishment? Was it some independent panel acting on behalf of the EFL? Who appoints them? Why have this extra step in the proceedings? |

Blimey, I remember going to Gretna in the Cup! Was it soon after that they left the English leagues, joined the Scottish leagues and went on a run that got them quite high up? I think they had a prolific striker that took the division top scorer each year they got promoted. Kenny something I think. I am sure someone will correct me! [Post edited 25 Oct 2019 15:02]

Thanks Judd Yes I'm getting bored hearing about bury. I'm on LinkedIn with Chris Casper who is now the Sporting Director at Salford and he responded to a post on their about bury's plight written by Terry Robinson who is some Sports Administrator Consultant from guess where? bury! and the post was so gushing about how great bury were and are and how badly they have been treated etc. it was sickening to see all of the responses from people in the business fraternity sounding their support and damning the EFL without having a clue about why they are in this position |

Being drawn against Wrexham got me thinking about all of the teams (over the past 34 years that I have been a Dale fan) that we used to play in the league and some now that we rarely played. For instance Halifax, Notts County, Yeovil, Torquay, Barnet, Hartlepool, Maidstone, Stockport, Wrexham, York, Chester, Hereford, Boston, Kidderminster, Rushden and Diamonds & Darlington are all in non-league (think Rushden may not exist anymore) Also Oldham, Swindon, Bolton, Blackpool, Bradford, Ipswich & Portsmouth were all once top division teams. All in all I don't think we have too much to complain about residing in the 2 lower division for all this time. I don't think I could cope with yoyo-ing up and down the leagues and then falling into non-league! I am very proud to be a Dale fan. We are a decently run club with a small but loyal fan base so long may it continue. |
