New Brentford stadium...
at 19:16 10 Sep 2020

Good luck with that! Our team (supporters not club) worked to get that site for some 10 years. Then got delayed by nearly 5 years by some c**ts that acquired the Capital Court site as a ransom site. They installed charities as non rent paying tenants who we had to deal with. Thankfully the CPO worked to get them out - but at a price and time delay. Actually the price was less than we offered them to f off in the first place so some justice there. Anyway hope we and you can attend our first Derby there!

The 4 boozers are only a short walk away - probably only 3 will continue. It's not even a mile from Griffin Park. I intend to Park in the same place use the Globe and leave 10 minutes earlier. As an alternative there are some great pubs along the river at Strand-on-the-Green just over the road from the new stadium or cross Kew Bridge and use the pubs around Kew Green. It's a great site for a new stadium from a pubs respect. Shit from a parking respect though!

Come on be realistic. Watkins joint top scorer in the Championship and lots of assists. Championship player of the season. Striker premium. Of course he would go for more than Eze.

Well we've already sold 11,500 season tickets for the new season. Normally you'd add the away supporters to that (obviously not atm) which would be another 2k. Then the causuals who dont have a ST. Say another 2k. That's up to 15,500. Pretty full with no restricted views and all seats with plenty of leg room - unlike GP or LR! Anyway it will look pretty full even without the coloured seats.

Thomas Frank has nothing to do with our transfers. These are done by our joint DoF's Phil & Raz whose strings and wires are controlled by Matthew Benham sitting in a bunker surrounded by computer screens whilst stroking his white cat. All true!

The Safety certificate has now been issued. The stadium can now be used and will be for tomorrows friendly against Oxford. 1st competitive game will be v Wycombe Wanderers in the league cup next weekend. Not quite Man U or Liverpool but what the hell. Will probably lose to WW as most the first team squad are away on international duty but we still have to play

Andy Mac was a great player for the Bees. Jack Charlton couldn't believe it when we accepted a £80,000 bid for him from Sheff Wed. He thought they'd have to triple it but in those days we snapped the hand off from anyone that offered money for our players. At least we now hold out for our valuation. If Fulscum want Watkins its gonna be at least £25m!

We can use ou r new stadium from October 1st with restricted, crowds same as you guys - unless there's a new lockdown. So no problem there to address the original thread starter.

It's nothing to do with crowing from my part. Just making sure that the information is correct.

Newbee is correct. The original total capacity was 20,000 inclusive of the premium seating. The cut to 17,250 was made by scrapping the 2nd tier to the North Stand which was considered too expensive to build compared to the return it would generate. There might also have been some changes made to the South Stand to create more premium seating but to the best of my knowledge this did not affect the total capacity to any material extent if at all. At the same time the original plan assumed a hospitality and conferencing business would be incorporated and run by The Club from within the South Stand. All plans for this were scrapped and the design changed as it was deemed too risky due to much competition in this area run by experts whilst we are a football club.

The lighting factor was nothing to do with the flats. At Planning it was 3 or 4 existing houses down Green Dragon Lane that were considered and dealt with. This did not delay anything at all as the plans were passed through with no changes required. I was at that final planning meeting. There were no objections at all to the new Stadium just some over the flats spoiling the view from Kew Gardens and concern over extra traffic. Again these were not considered material and the plans were voted through with full permission requiring no changes.

Yep NewBee you're exactly right with your closing paragraph. It's bespoke to fit the strange shape site and as you said yesterday the masterplan plan started with the stadium then the flats were fitted in. Interesting to note that the South side literally had no corners because the rail tracks in the triangle are so close. The one thing it isn't and won't be is a prefabricated, soulless concrete bowl. It was never going to be 24,000 was 20,000. Got downgraded to 17,250 because the extra 2,750 would have required a 2nd tier and was decided too expensive to build compared to the income it would generate. Interestingly since completion I believe they have found the ground could accommodate another 500-600 seats so the final capacity might be more like 17,750.

Oh and as for no test events. The limited capacity games we restart the new season with will become the test events. So sorry Chaps we will be in Lionel Road for next season. See you there if the bloody virus let's us let in away supporters - or home for that matter!

That only effects the super profit share not the underlying contrajct which I said had hard coded costs and prices. The only real problem encountered from the BFC side was the 2/3 year delay in starting the project due to the bastard owners of Capital Court who forced us to go down the compulsory purchase route to get the last plot of land required. I believe, not sure though, we offered them more than the final CPU was set at.

You've got the out line of the deal a little wrong. Bees own Griffin Park. Bees bought all the land at Lionel Road including the land to build 900 flats. Bees got planning permission to build new ground and flats. Bees exchange land with planning to developer in exchange for new ground. On completion of new ground Bees transfer Griffin Park to developer. All the prices were hard coded into the contracts so Bees are protected from collapse in demand for the housing although we do still have a profit share in our favour if the flats get sold at a higher price than the contracts envisaged. This in turn is shared with LBH who have promised to upgrade our bus stop! The original idea was that the planning permission value, and the value of Griffin Park got us the new new ground free of any additional charge. The money Matthew Benham has put into the club was to fund football operations not the
stadium itself. Remember the original deal was put together by BeesUnited the fans trust before Mr B was involved. We had no real cash to finance the new stadium the value had to come from planning permission enabling works and the value of Griffin Park.
