⚽️ Baglan Dragons v Swansea City U21 TODAY

What’s going on with Maliq Cadogan? I expected to see him get a half yesterday so unless he’s injured I’m shocked he didn’t play today.

Four Welsh Labour ministers resign ...
at 13:47 17 Jul 2024

I'm sorry but Jeremy Miles comes out of this with no credit. I hope his race is run after failing against Gething. He has put party before country by not resigning sooner and his snidey comments about Mike Hedges in those leaked texts are not becoming of a leader.

Who will the swans sign as a centre forward?

Aaron Collins has got a better record than Harris, would prefer him over Harris.

What is it, 10 new players in. Some non league. Head coach with no managerial experience. Wants to play possession based football in league 2. It's going to be an eventful season at Rodney Parade. I'll be keeping an eye on their results but I'd be surprised if it's anything other than flirting with relegation. Long term I expect Jenkins to do well for them though.

Wonder if James Graham was one of the trialists? Daily record states he's in Wales.

Terrible use of subs. Left himself with nothing for the last 25 mins. Wait a bit longer to take Cullen off and do a double or treble and leave one for the last few. Kill the game a bit, reinforce things. Amateur hour.

Luis Rubiales - acceptable ?
at 00:27 30 Aug 2023

Being a certain age myself, I think anyone over the age of 30 can agree the bar for most things has got lower. Not a bad thing, just an observation. Things that were acceptable even 20 years ago are definitely not now. I was late seeing the footage, I’d seen the furore but hadn’t watched it. Having watched it a few times I still can’t quite believe the fuss. I was expecting to see something completely different.

I think it’s important to also acknowledge an important fact. The Spanish womens team are at loggerheads with the federation and have been for some time. Whatever anyones view on the incident, it must be remembered that there’s an axe to grind, a touchpaper to light.

In that moment I saw an idiotic man, a drunk uncle at a wedding type but I don’t see a sexual predator or someone deliberately demeaning women. I think he genuinely seems happy and proud of what they achieved. Would I behave like him? No. Do I think it was appropriate? Not really, but it’s not a career ender either, in my view.

So why the widespread condemnation of him then? All those people can’t be wrong, surely? Well it’s very trendy these days to pile on. To find a fuse to light the touchpaper. Yes many women are treated misogynistically, they are victims of sexism and all sorts of truly awful behaviour perpetrated by males. It sometimes needs a high profile situation to act as the catalyst and this is where certain types of people jump on a bandwagon or use that situation to push the narrative.

Don’t get me wrong, the proper treatment of women and equality is a very important topic, one I feel strongly about being a husband, father, brother and uncle. I just don’t think this particular series of events reflects that narrative. It’s high profile though and coupled with the ill feeling from the Spanish players and you have the perfect storm we’ve witnessed.

The media stated it would be done in 24 hours over 3 days ago. That deadline, date, timeframe, whatever you want to call it, passed, without any updates. Hence people will inevitably speculate as to why everything went quiet for 48 hours.

I’m totally relaxed but my observations are that an announcement was going to be made a couple of days ago. That deadline has passed. In that timeframe, their CEO has gone. Was Martin his man? That’s unclear. Currently we have a manager whose head has been turned, who is still here despite it being stated that he’d be announced as their manager by now. Everything you’ve said about negotiations is right but has usually happened in the background before the media make the kind of announcements they were making over the weekend. We’ll just have to see how it pans out but my point remains that it’s becoming a mess the longer it drags on.

Yeah it was supposed to be done in 24 hours 48 hours ago, so something is going on. Reminiscent of Cooper flirting with Palace and never coming back, so the owners do have previous when a manager clearly wants out and it falls through. We shall see, but it’s becoming a mess.

It’s all gone quiet and since it was announced that he was a dead cert, their CEO has had the chop. Using social media as a gauge, the reaction from Saints fans was lukewarm at best too. Strange that it’s gone from nailed on to radio silence.

I’m not sure but I think I can see where you’re going with this…I’ve said before and I got pelters at the time but Alan Tate would be my only choice for any of our recent “golden generation” ex players. He’s the only one properly serving his apprenticeship, he loves the club, gaining great experience working with a very good manager, knows the fan base and has worked under the most successful managers in our recent history as a player. What’s not to like!?

Swansea City v Rotherham United : MATCHDAY Matchday Thread 2022/23
at 22:33 27 Feb 2023

The only positive from that game was that we didn’t ship a late goal. They had twice as many shots, more shots on target, more corners, they hit the post, had the better chances and carried way more threat. 3 wins in 20 games, after playing Blackpool, Stoke and now these it’s clear we’re only going to stay up because we’ve got a buffer but my word we’re terrible.

We finished the game with no player I’d consider a wide player. Had 6 midfielders on at one point. Whittaker played 3 different positions, Ollie too. There’s no direction, no clear plan other than pointless passing and hoping the opposition make a mistake. This squad is so imbalanced, not all Martin’s fault but he’s not making the best of what’s at his disposal.

Where does Russell Martin go now ? Another night of the same old !
at 22:27 21 Feb 2023

How can anyone refer back to the owners after a performance like that? It’s got nothing to do with them. If you’ve adopted a position of defending the owners over Martin previously, fair enough. If you’re just doing it to save face though, just admit you were wrong, there’s no shame in it. You can’t possibly talk about a shower like tonight though and not place the blame entirely at the manager’s door.

Are the owners doing enough for Swansea City
at 21:20 13 Feb 2023

I’m pleased the club has no debt. I’m pleased that with the exception of the most recent window, there has been some money to spend. I’m generally quite pleased, they have their faults but I also know that it could be so much worse.

If we don’t get 7 points as an absolute minimum from these next 4 games, Martin should definitely be sacked. He should be sacked by now anyway but less than that return in these next games would be the final nail in the coffin.

The way the owners handle Martin’s underperformance will be what I judge them on because it’s the most pressing thing they have to deal with. They’ve not really had to deal with underperforming managers since relegation.

I’m quite pleased with the way they’re handling things generally but the way they handle Martin is an acid test in my opinion of them, beyond many of the things people have judged them on.
