100k bonus for promotion - wondered if Dykes has a bonus built into his contract too

At this quick moment Dykes find himself a reserve striker?

I’ll be surprised if it is not easier than that.

Frankly, even if you work there as the tea lady I don’t see why you can’t walk away with the blueprint in a usb

Brum will have to do an Ipswich

However, Ipswich dumped Dozzell on us while we gifted Dozzell to Brum

Read it how you may

If in the modern game (whatever that means) the main function of the striker or centre forward is anything other than to score goals, would it not be a problem?

I would like to think the main role of a defender is to defend, centre half is to run midfield.

It is a simple game, or am I silly? (Maybe both)

Isn’t that 69?

I bet the whole squad can play in that position

Dykes dropping a division
- on more wage?
- non promotion release clause?
- promotion bonus?
- goal scored bonus? (Brum won’t need to worry this one)

But let’s face it, he signed an extension last season. He could have gone this season with the club getting nothing, so by doing what he did when he signed on knowing we were going nowhere (heavily tipped for relegation) credit should be given that the club got a fee. He was probably allowed to choose if a club came for him this season and he probably thought it’s time to move on. Thank you Lyndon wish you well but hope your goal drought continues every time you face the Rs

He has more time donning a new hairdo than practicing to shoot?

I think if he/we/they didn’t classify him/self as a striker, some fans will be more forgiving.

He wasn’t starting and not on the bench because we are selling

Ok, I made that up but I think this it is more believable

I think people think that dykes being Scotland national team forward should get us more than one million.

He got more caps (and goals, believe you me) than che adams or Lawrence shankland

But honestly I don’t know the value of adams nor shankland, however all three about the same age.

That’s not saying a lot about Scotland but that’s not the point.

1 - 1.5 million with several bidding clubs? Hearts? Millwall? Birmingham? Blackburn?

Funny thing is those fans of the said clubs are as clueless and bewildered as us here in this forum about the supposed “interest”, some thought the rumours generated here!

Agent talk or pseudo-journo on social having a field day?

Isn’t it calculated by the number of likes 👍🏻 you received?

If you get down voted a lot 👎🏼 means you are worthless

No?

Hearts and Millwall are not exactly desired destinations to be fair. I am guessing the money offered by Birmingham (to both player and our club) is the motivating factor

Goals, Shots, XG - QPR laboured to score?
at 08:09 26 Aug 2024

I was reading somewhere (not here) someone mentioned Burnley had 11 shots on target and score 9 after 3 games, so I went to checked us and Burnley

3 League Games - XG - Goals - Shots (on / off / blocked)

QPR
v WBA - xG 0.87 - Goal = 1 - Shots 11 (6 on / 3 off / 2 blocked)
v Sheff Utd - xG 0.63 - Goals = 2 - Shots 14 (3 on / 2 off / 9 blocked)
v Plymouth - xG 2.26 - Goal = 1 - Shots 30 (10 on / 10 off / 10 blocked)
3 games average - xG 1.25 - Goals = 4 - Shots 55 (19 on / 14 off / 22 blocked)

Burnley
v Luton - xG 1.21 - Goals = 4 - Shots 11 (6 on / 3 off / 2 blocked)
v Coventry - xG 0.76 - Goals = 5 - Shots 9 (4 on / 4 off / 1 blocked)
v Sunderland - xG 0.11 - Goals = 0 - Shots 4 (1 on / 2 off / 1 blocked)
3 games average - xG 0.69 - Goals 9 - Shots 24 (11 on / 9 off / 4 blocked)

- QPR has more than twice the shots 55 v 24 than Burnley but produced only 4 goals and Burnley have more than double 9

- QPR shots on target to goal percentage is 34.5%, Burnley are 44%

- QPR blocked shots are 40% of their total shots - almost one shot in 2 are blocked

- There is no short of chances, but our goals return is quite poor compared to Burnley

- Burnley did score 9 goals with 11 shots on target in 3 games - 81.82% conversion rate, QPR - 21.05% for 4 goals for 19 shots on target

- Is it our strikers problem or teams just mass defence against us?

- Note Burnley had total 4 shots on target against Coventry scoring 5 because Coventry had scored an own goal

What are your thoughts?

Rest of the Championship thread
at 03:12 26 Aug 2024

It is competitive because most teams are of similar quality and strength, and there can be a drastic change in ranking if teams goes on a mini streak (wining or losing) and find themselves at nearer the top or closer to the bottom in a whiff.

Last season relegation battles were probably one of the most competitive where quite a few teams were caught up into it. Teams seemingly "safe" (Blackburn, Stoke, Plymouth) were sucked into it and Birmingham and Huddersfield were relegated where neither in any kind of trouble 2/3 into the season. The cellar dwellers for much of the time QPR and Sheffield Wed managed pull themselves out in the final stretch - and if you recall, we were the form team and winning more than losing but we just could not pull away into safety, taking 3 steps forward but then 2 steps back in batches of a few games in succession.

Although the top teams are seemingly untouchable (being freshly relegated from the premier league with parachute money etc) they are certainly not uncatchable unlike the Man Citys. Arsenals and Liverpools.

Competitive it is if a big chuck of teams are of similar quality and strength, notwithstanding the poor standard of football or if it has to be nail biting stuff in every game.

So is the championship competitive?

I think it rather is.
