Hugely frustrated this morning. This has been the worst window for us in living memory. I'm not saying we should buy for buying sake, but it is quite obvious we are struggling on the field and needed fresh faces and reinforcements in. We end up selling Grimes (rightly IMO) but then only bring in 1 additional to replace?
What have the scouting department been doing for the last 6 months. People go on about January... That's the month where you can COMPLETE deals. There is nothing stopping us as a club scouting and negotiating with clubs/agents in September onwards to get players in the door early January.
Yes there are P&S limitations to take into play, but the transfer window, coupled with his unremarkable confidence in Williams It really does reek of someone incapable of running a club and I am now officially worried.
We've all been wondering what the circumstances are with Grimes going... I'm now starting to seriously think it was him asking what signings are coming to come in and improve us followed by a response of "none". In which case who blames him for saying enough is enough and I'm offski.
I have it on very good authority a lot of the scouting time and attention has been on the homeless leagues, we found a gem and offered a contract but we couldn't match his wage demands.
No sympathies from me. He chose to join Coventry, he didn't have to. He was under contract and could have sat pretty if staying in Swansea for his family was his priority. Not sure what's gone on behind the scenes, but his wife's insta suggesting she's sorry it's ended this way could well be down to the fact the swans couldn't/wouldn't match coventry's contract offer and this was potentially his last big pay day.
Are you suggesting Cabango wouldn't front up to the fans forum? Or have you been living under a rock for the past week and not realised Grimes is now a Coventry player?
He was part of the problem, as is the manager and the slow possession based tactics we use.
We need midfielders/wingers/strikers who can also run directly at defenders to take them on with a bit of pace because trying to pass around them isn't working.
Grimes will never be that player. Widell looks exactly like what we need but unfortunately we won't see him for some time. So I only hope we get other players in who play with smiles on their faces and like to terrorise defences.
We need some significant changes to happen on and off the field and Grimes should be just the start of it.
I didn't think he'd be allowed on the Bus home from Norwich to be honest. Coleman is either (a) very loyal (B) very stubborn or (c) inept as a chairman. I thought most successful business CEO's are ruthless and decisive. Coleman is showing to be the exact opposite (unless it is just a case getting the window out of the way first as to not to take the focus off the transfer market over the next couple of days)
I hear he was backing Williams in his Instagram goodbye saying he was the right man to take the club forward. So he's either had a falling out with those in the boardroom or he lost respect if his fellow teammates in the changing room.
I'm going with a comfortable 15-25pts win for the French, however, I wouldn't be shocked to see a rejuvenated Wales Team rock up tonight and snatch an (unlikely) win.
I'm chuffed for Ben. But does this mean Darling is even more likely to go this window? I'd have thought he'd have been the natural choice for the armband as a way of pursuing him to stay on. Fact we've gone straight to Ben (which I have no issues about)!does that mean Darling is likely on his way within the next 4 days?
Tell your Heinz insider we'll drop the price to 3.5mill if they take him immediately.
All jokes aside... 4m is about right I think. Could have played hardball for 5-6m if we were desperate to keep him but it's time for the club to move on so it's a win-win.
One of the worst though (for me) was Jordi Gomez. Decent technically but was weak at pi$$. He'd hit the deck and get nudged off the ball all the time. He really frustrated me.
