A friend came to the game with me on Sat, completely neutral. His summary of the game was: two poor sides, either could have won it; both keepers were the best players for their team; why didn’t the last player to score a penalty for us take it?; penalty miss aside our CF is completely ineffective and was shown up by Lloyd on as sub; Saito and Smyth did well, (Saito particularly, some leap on him!) but Smyth shoots like he’s playing Gaelic football, where 3 shots over the bar is the equivalent of a goal.
Same story, I came away from the Portsmouth game absolutely livid, seething at the lack of commitment and effort. Like many of our players haven’t turned up at a game since.
Mother Doak is no mean left back apparently, and certainly offers more than Santos in defence. Apparently went junior Doak gives her a swerve at home in the back garden he gets good clip round the ear for his troubles.
Would be remiss not to give FW Murnau’s ‘Nosteratu’ a passing nod. It must have been mind blowing for new audiences to see in the early days of cinema - over 100 years old.
