This is from a Cork City fan: What you're getting is a player that will work extremely hard, is very strong and the best header of the ball that I've ever seen play with us.

good stuff

hopefully a better version of gornell, without the temperament issues

I'd reckon this is the player he said he was confident would be joining us, given how early the signing was confirmed.

His text pest will probably be announced later, if it indeed happens at all.

The 'texting' thing makes it sound to me like the player is without a club. If he had a club then obviously the majority of the early contact would be with the club, and the player would be being pushed into making a decision quite quickly.

If he is without a club, we don't have to get the deal tied up today will we?

Tangled up in blue.

I suspected it might be Lee Croft.

Not sure why they would be texting assuming they still see each other every day at training ; that's my only reservation on that observation .

Happy with this signing, it gives us options up front now and he obviously knows where the net is. Lee Croft would be ideal but maybe he will get a better offer from a league one club.

You would think, but then how much chance would they get to talk about it at training? Maybe a quick word before and after - with Hilly texting him later to say 'have you made your mind up yet?'… then the same again at training the following day. Who knows? You would imagine Croft had a half decent agent too - maybe Hilly is trying to skirt them?

I'd have thought that if Croft leaves Oldham to go on to bigger and better things, then ends up at Dale, his agent needs sacking.

I agree he is probably not tall enough to up front to play for
Rochdale as a striker..Theres plenty of players out there that would not qualify as the right height for a 2nd division team,,,ie...Messi-Aguaro-Tevez-Rooney-even Maradonna or Pele from the past would not catch Rochdales team simply not big enough....

Is that what I said? no. Given the assumption that we were looking for a forward to hold the ball up for our other strikers I was just making an observation. Fookin smart arse, no wonder no fooker posts on here anymore.

He comes across well in the interview on DalePlayer. Not your stereotypical footballer, he seems to be quite atrticulate.

Quite pleased with this signing. He's not your typical target man, but sounds like a slightly bigger version of Daggers. Fits the Hilly mould. Had an impressive scoring record in Ireland, so at least he knows where the net is!

The first Cork player to score more than 20 goals in one season, after netting a record of 24 goals...according to Rochdale on-line.

If anyone can relight his fire that will be Keith Hill.

Jesus saves but Beasley scores off the rebound.

He might possibly still do that. After all we haven't yet seen him play. Like you say He could be to small to be the conventional target man that some wanted but he could fit the bill for what hill wants. I'd like to hope that hill has done his homework. If he can provide the same amount of work as GD but offer a bit more intelligence when the ball is with him I would be happy. Hopefully GD and the other younger lads can use it as a learning experience too.

On another note how old is Donnelly, mid 20's?

Forgot to mention that Joe Bunney is tall but not the best in the air.

Going off the picture of him, I wouldn't be 100% certain we haven't just signed Buchanan! Separated at birth!

The 'texter' is hard to figure out - it is my understanding free agents can be signed past the deadline so we might not hear anything for a few days?
