Hill put it perfectly as usual...IF he is with us, we will be successful, if he isn't with us, we will still be successful. Hill seems to get the psychology just right. He builds an aura of belief that players "can do", and as a collective we WILL get it right - there's no doubt. Will Jason blink first, his agent, or Clint Hill....

I interpreted it that way too and we know the club has operated those in the past with the likes of Sam Russell suddenly disappearing from the first team when he was one game off activating that clause.

And more recently Cavanagh. I'd love to know if he'd crossed that threshold before Coleman was sacked.

1. Josh Lillis 2. Joe Rafferty 3. Rhys Bennett 4. Peter Cavanagh 5. Ashley Eastham 6. Olly Lancashire 7. Peter Vincenti 8. Andrew Tutte 9. George Donnelly 10. Reece Gray 11. Scott Hogan 12. Matthew Lund 14. Bastien Hery 16. Matt Done 17. Scott Tanser 18. Godwin Abadaki 20. Brian Barry Murphy 22. Bobby Grant 23. Steve Collis 24. Jamie Allen 25. Michael Rose 26. Joel Logan 27. D’arcy O’Connor 39. Joe Bunney 40. Ian Henderson
Though these days the numbers used don't mean a great deal, two or three questions occur: why 23 for Steve Collis (superstitious about 13)? why such high numbers for Bunney and (particularly) Henderson? Is BG's 22 in the expectation he won't be around to wear that shirt? Is Reece's 10 a hint that he's likely to be in the starting 11?

Upon joining us last season Henderson took the number 40 shirt Upon joining us last season Bobby G took the number 22 shirt Gray wore the number 10 all season last season, despite his lack of appearances. Bunney wore the number 39 shirt in the last game of the season v Plymouth and scored, try taking that number off him!
And yes, the number 13 shirt is oft skipped at clubs, including Dale. Ryan Air don't have row 13 on their planes either.
I don't think I can ever recall us having such a large squad so early in pre-season, full of players who, on paper, appear to be all of league standard.
Obviously, our green detractors will clutch at straws saying we can't afford this squad, but to be able to field 2 different teams that would both compete at this level in mid July, says something about Hilly's recruitment ability*.
* Something Flicker paid testimony to in his first interview after being handed the Barnsley job.

A lot of forwards are fans of 39. Started with Anelka and players like Bellamy take it everywhere they go too. David Ball and Harry Bunn are others who use it, so there's probably a City thing with it, again linking back to Anelka. Bunney is a City fan too...
In the reverse psychology stakes with no.13: Matt Gilks took it after first having 30, and he kept it until Edwards moved. Chris Dagnall chose 13 at Barnsley too.
