Personally I didn't see the formation as 442 today. It was the usually 433 with Grant and Gornell playing either side of Dele. Tutte did end up a lot on the right though which is something playing as the more advanced of a three man midfield allows him to do. It allows him to roam. He is a real threat when he picks the ball up and drives at players. Having a holding player helps him. As part of a two. I don't think he would have the same impact.

Grant and Tutte spent the game switching flanks! They were making conscious efforts to ensure they were swapping at the right point in the game so as not to affect the shape.

no have kennedy as the so called defensive 'cm' off the two, but there isn't really in my opinion a defensive cm in 4-4-2, you just have to work out a system of one going forward and then one making sure hes holding.. but i was only suggesting it because someone said what would you do if you had too, atm i wouldn't change it being realistic | |

I liked the fact that there was obviously some thought given to improving our home performances - the later 'warm up' almost running straight out to shake hands, the huddle at the beginning (we might mock it for away teams but as a sign of togetherness, lets do it) and also the applauding the crowd at the end is something I have not noticed before. All positive actions.

Slaughtered?? did you not watch the game, we won 2-1, keep up . I thought Ryan Edwards did very well, against a tough striker in Eaves, he was a handful, but I thought Edwards stood up to him for the majority, he recieved the supporters MOTM, so im clearly not the only one to think this. Phil Edwards, I dont understand why so many get on his back, to me he's on of our unsung heroes, plays well, as long as he stays away from defensive midfield. [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]

I heard that the " Txt " Mom went to Ryan Edwards.
God knows how. maybe a few were getting confused in how to submit the txt.
Cumbersome in giving away the penalty and looks to be struggling to keep up although never blessed with pace. Not his finest afternoon in a dale shirt although he is commited and i would best describe what i saw as workmanlike.
The lad has talent and this is in no way knocking him i just couldnt see how he was " txt " Mom ahead of several others. ( PE - Bennett - Grant ).
Regardless having a look at the league table with a coffee this morning and it makes good reading.
3 points off joint second although a much inferior GD.
It looks a very open league 2 this year with no one to fear. If the team want it enough and we can start supporting / cheering them on instead of critising every stray pass then we might just have a better season than we could have ever dreamed of six months ago.
