I think that option would be too difficult. SA Road would have to be re routed and it would have to be part of a wider scheme for the White City estate, as would option 2. Sadly I think option 1 is also unlikely as the site is wanted by a number of high profile bidders. It's possible that more work has been done since the study I've seen.

The HS2 terminal will be one of the biggest regeneration schemes in the country, just look at the changes around Kings Cross and St Pancras to see how road systems in an area can be changed. The LC makes perfect economic and planning sense to tie in with the future plans for this area.

in 4-5 years many things can dramatically change...TFL ain't paying for no station upgrade for any football team, they didn't for arsenal...plans were meant to be in place but no one actually under signed works, so no upgrades. however, fulham broadway was adapted and so could east acton if need be and as mentioned, the new links to crossrail could see a potential stop? be nice for the prisoners to feel part of something, maybe they can get days out? i do not know the area so ask, are there shops nearby? or will it be most qpr fans still drink round their normals boozers and wander to game 20 mins pre ko?

Thought it was more like 30min off journey time and that's just the first stop. If we are sure that HS2 is going ahead and is going to be making Old Oak Common the hub then a stadium on the LCS site would be ideal. I think we could get a 35k stadium on the site easily. Access to the stadium by road could be cut off from Du Cane Rd and a new access road could be built to the site off Scrubs Ln (which also has room to be widened) running behind the Pony Centre. This would be a way to reduce the disturbance to the hospital and prison. As others have said the whole infrastructure of the area would slowly change to accommodate the Old Oak Common station should that go ahead.

Mind you, I suppose you'd say the same if Loftus Road was suggested as a location now too. On this London Scottish thing though, would you not just develop it together? London Irish have moved into Brentford's. Could be a great solution, split some costs, new home for both. Why does it have to be a competitor bid?

London Scottish's ground is just down the road from me and is equivalent to non league at best. I can't see that they'd be a rival bid to us, unless they're having some Derby style takeover [Post edited 10 Nov 2020 19:21]

Well I don’t know why it needs to be £30k for us either. What Swansea have would be more than adequate for the size of the site and the two clubs.

I read recently that the owner of London Irish (he also owns Powerday) had to inject £4M into that club to keep them afloat. It seems that football is not the only economic madhouse. Rugby clubs will need to partner to survive, but whether R's would be prepared to offer up a joint development with all the "partner" and sponsor complications I would doubt. Maybe an offer to provide the stadium on a lease might be a better option. When you look at the current investment market new commercial property developments will go on-hold until investors see how the return to the workplace works. A new stadium development with other opportunities is exactly where the investors will go. The money is slowly starting to re-appear and if you have a pension is what we all need. I suspect an R's stadium could fly and reasonably quickly.

This. Q: How does a Rugby club get a 30K stadium for the price of 15k one? A: Share the cost and location with a Football Club. Q: However small issue, this has been done before and did not go well. What to do? A: Start a propaganda campaign that you will take it for yourself, shock the fans of both and then work with Football Club to come to an agreement as if its a best for all parties deal, even though that was your intention from the start. ........New stadium owned by the shareholders, leased to QPR and London Scottish, both paying rent. Pocket proceeds of Loftus Road. Claw back some of the money wheelbarrowed into the bank accounts of Barton, Bosingwa etc. All speculation of course, but very, very nervous about these owners moving us out of HQ.

Linford Christie Stadium. on 22:24 - Nov 10 with 2939 views | derbyhoop | Any replacement for Loftus Road should be flexible in terms of capacity. Nearly all new stadia see increased attendances. At least, in the short term. So, a stadium of 25,000 capacity would be about right for where we are today. However, have we given up on ambition. There is a massive catchment area, if the Rs are successful. And, a return to the PL would leave a 25K capacity stadium undersized.

Exactly. Build a sub 25k stadium and we’ll move at best from a bottom half Championship side to a top half side. You only have to look at the Premier to see 25k capacity clubs don’t hang around there for long, we have to go 30k and think big.
Linford Christie Stadium. on 00:12 - Nov 11 with 2807 views | 18StoneOfHoop | Save Wormwood Scrubs has more to worry about at the moment 11/11/20 than QPR or London Scottish: HS2 in Old Oak have quietly pushed through proposals to begin construction works and 24 hour tunnelling in order to divert the Stamford Brook sewer line across wormwood scrubs - this is one of the last remaining untouched wild green spaces in West London and a hugely diverse ecological conservation area, protected under the Metropolitan Open Land act of 1879 - affording it the same protections as the greenbelt. Wormwood scrubs is a designated local nature reserve (LNR) and site of importance for nature conservation (SINC). HS2 have refused to release specific details or publish up to date environmental impact surveys of the plans but they will be felling a huge number of mature trees on the west side of the scrubs and destroying designated Nature Reserve habitats home to rare ground nesting birds, protected reptiles, foxes, badgers, bats and many other species; their current site access plans involve: 1. Building a fenced road across Wormwood Scrubs going south to north which will be accessed 24 hours a day by HGVs via the proposed site entrance on Braybrook street; effectively cutting the wildest part of wormwood scrubs in two. 2. Removing the vehicle width restrictions on Wulfstan Street which currently prevent lorries from accessing the Old Oak conservation area - and thus opening the area to become a rat run for construction traffic - including 24hr ACCESS BY HGVs on Wulfstan Street & Braybrook Street. There is a second site access point onto a concrete area directly off Old Oak Common Lane - if they were to build their access road from this point it would negate the need to destroy the nature reserve in the south west corner. 3. Felling trees and 'clearing' the protected designated Local Nature Reserve areas. There will be open cut trenches dug into the northern woodland of the scrubs. Pipe jacking activity (pushing equipment through the ground to create tunnels) will take place 24 hours a day. This will cause total devastation to the delicate and valuable ecosystem of the scrubs. We’re currently trying to put pressure on local councillors to: Force HS2 to Publish recent (independently conducted) environmental & biodiversity surveys prior to the commencement of ANY work. 2. Force HS2 to change their planned access route to an existing concrete route off old oak common lane instead of Braybrook street - and thus minimising the needless destruction of local nature reserve areas. Under the original agreement the council have the power to 'require HS2 to access the site via the preferred route on Old Oak Common lane’. Please tell you councillors to exercise these powers by taking a few moments to contact them: Andy Slaughter, MP for Hammersmith & Fulham andy@andyslaughter.com Stephen Cowan - leader of the council: Stephen.Cowan@lbhf.gov.uk Wesley Harcourt, Cabinet member for the Environment wesley.harcourt@lbhf.gov.uk Alexandra Sanderson, Old Oak Councillor & Chair of the wormwood scrubs charitable trust Alexandra.Sanderson@lbhf.gov.uk https://www.lbhf.gov.uk/arts-and-parks/parks-and-open-spaces/wormwood-scrubs-ope [Post edited 11 Nov 2020 0:26]

Linford Christie Stadium. on 03:32 - Nov 11 with 2738 views | nadera78 | London Scottish moving to the Scrubs makes no sense whatsoever. They're largely an amateur RU club, with a part-time squad of players at senior level, playing in the second tier in front of a couple of hundred people. What on earth would they need a 15,000 seat stadium for? They tried going full-time when rugby union players started paying tax back in the mid-90s and very quickly went bust. They want to try it again - and in an area where they'd be sandwiched between Harlequins, London Irish and Saracens? Seriously, just how much interest do they think there is in their sport? And then you've got QPR, Fulham, Brentford, Che####, and Middlesex CCC in the immediate vicinity as well. As ideas go, it's one of the stupidest I've heard in a long time.
