Have now seen the highlights; Dawson played alongside Richards with Pearce deciding to play a left back at right back, as ex City coaches tend to do.
They looked very disjointed at the back and Dawson was drawn out if position for the goal. That said Richards wasn't exactly much help as he switched off too. | |

Richards is the only recognised right back yet Pearce again uses him at centre half while using a left sided player at right back.
Meanwhile two recognised centre halves are on the bench. Caulker should have started if Dawson wasn't going to, leave Richards at full back where his poor awareness isn't exposed as much as it is centrally (see that Mexico game)

I think Pearce advised Eyre on that substitution during the Orient game last season which saw 3 of our 4 defenders playing out of position in the back line. |  | | |
